As here embodied our improved bed comprises a pair of sectional frame elements. These sections comprise the

10 and 11 for the respective sections which have a generally telescopic engagement with one another. The

10 and 11 are united at their remote ends respectively by the side pieces 12 and 13. The bars 10 are formed with longitudinal guide grooves 15 in which engage slidably the ends of the bars 11. The

It 1s believed that the manner of adjust ment of our improved bed will be readily understood from the above description. Vhen the bed is collapsed and is to be extended the shaft 26 is turned to pull on the cord 33 and so extend the bed. As the latter is at the end of its extension movement the inner ends of the members 20 drop down on PIOJQCUODS 11 on the inner ends of the bars 11; The bolts 22, which have first been loosened are given a half turn, dropping the other ends of the members downward, the two

16 and 17 being then on a common level. \Vhen the bed is to be collapsed the members 20 are raised by hand while the shaft 27 is given enough movement to bring the ends of the bars 11 under the said members the bolts 22 are then turned to raise the other ends of the members 20 and the rotation of shaft 27 completed to bring the bed to collapsed position, the cords Winding on the drums 37 as shaft 27 is rotated, and thereby drawing the sections to collapsed position.

In Fig. 4c of the drawing We have shown in diagram a modified arrangement for moving the two sections upon one another. As here shown I provide only theshaft 26 and the drums 32. Over each ldrum is wound a single cord i0 which is fixed to the drum midway between its ends and which connects at opposite ends to the opposite sides of the section composed of the

Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows:

1. A bed comprising end bars each made up of a pair of sections, one of said sections being formed with a guide groove and the other section engaging slidably in said guide, a spring section fixed at its ends to the bars of the first named section, vertically adjustable members extending along the other bars of the other section, and a spring section fixed at its ends to the said vertically adjustable members, said vertically adjustable members resting freely on the bars of the second named section at one end, and cam elements supporting the said members at their other ends.

2. A bed comprising end bars each made up of a pair of sections, one of said sections being formed with a guide groove and the other section engaging slidably in said guide, a spring section fixed at its ends to the bars of the first named section, vertically adjustable members extending along the other bars of the other section,

and a spring section fixed at its ends to the said vertically adjustable members, said vertically adjustable members resting at one end on the bars of the second named section, bolts carried by the bars of the first named section, and eccentric heads on said bolts supporting the said vertically adj ustable members at their other ends.

A bed comprising end bars each made up of a pair of sections, one of said sections being formed with. a. guide groove and the other section engaging slidably in said guide, a spring section fixed at its ends te the bars of the first nan'ied section, vertically adjustable members extending along the other bars of the other section, and a spring section fixed at its ends to the said vertically adjustable members, said vertically adjustable members resting at one end on the bars of the second named section, bolts carried by the bars of the first named section, and eccentric heads on said bolts supporting the said vertically adjustable members at their other ends, said second named bars having projections adapted to receive and support the ends of the said members when the bed is extended.
