The suspension means consists of which the fl oillowirrg is a specification. a depending stem or red .lTsuitably secured This invention relates tosuspension de to the bottom or horizontal portion ot the vices and has for its object the provision or member 14: in any desired manner, as for inm a noveldevice constrmtted and :adapted to stance, by passing itherethrough, and hav- '65 he "clampingly engaged upon the lintel. of a ing its upper end upset, as indicated at 18. door aliranzre :tor the purpose of suspeiiding The lower :end of the stem is formed with a a baby juniper orthefli kenth e ClGWlGGll'JQlZllg hole 19 within which is engaged a supportparticularly advantageous in this capacity ing ring 20 within which may be inserted a 15 inasmuch as it makes provision for the r-are suspension hook or the like provided on ofaninfant orsmallelnld, while the mother baby jumpers, swinging cradles, and the or otherattendant is engaged or busy. like. 3 i i An important and more specific object For maintaining themembers 10 and 14; in the provision of a suspension device of this clamping engagement, 1 provide a threaded 20 character which may be used. on iintels of rod 21 which extends across the U-shaped 'diii'erent sizes :a-s the parts are so arranged frame and which hasone end pivoted at 22 that adjustment is easilyzandquicklyeffected between spaced ears 23 formed or secured to meet different oonditionswhich may exist. upon {the inside of the ntiember 10. W'hether one or two of iugs, ll have shown the device as compristhe devices should be used depends entirely iug a U-shaped frame includinga side mem upon the nature of the article to be susber 10 formed at its lower end with a knuckle pended. In the case of a baby jumper so 11. with which are pivotally connected at 12 or some walkers of different varieties, one knuckles 13 formed on an L-shaped men. of the devices may be suflicient though it ber 1% which constitutes the other side of it is desired to support an infants hammock the frame. The upper ends of the members or some types of swings, two of the clamps 10 and 1 1 are formed with lateral extensions would be necessary as two suspension points 15 directed toward each other and carrying are required. Regardless of this point, it
is quite obvious that the device is easy to apply and will efficiently perform its func tion.
lVhile I have shown and described the preferred OHIlJOdlDIG'Ilt of my invention, it is of course to be understood that I reserve the right to make such changes in the form, construction and arrangement of parts as will not depart from the spirit of the in \"ention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
I claim:
1. A suspension clamp comprising a Ushaped frame including pivotally connected members carrying clamping plates, a suspension element depending from the bight of the frame, and means for holding the two frame members in clamping relation consisting of a threaded rod pivotally connected with one member and carrying a clamping nut, the other member being formed with a slot extending inwardly from one edge for the reception of said rod.
2. A suspension clamp comprising a U-shaped frame including pivotally connected members carrying clamping plates, a suspension element depending from the frame, means for holding the two frame members in clamping relation consisting of a threaded rod pivotally connected with one member and carrying a clamping nut, the other member being formed with a slot ex tending inwardly from one edge for the reception of said rod, and ahook slidably engaged upon the threaded rod outwardly of the frame and having its extremity engaging the unslotted edge of said second named member whereby to hold the rod normally against movement along said slot.
3. A suspension clamp comprising a pair of pivotally connected members, suspension means depending from one member, an ad justing screw pivoted on one member, the other member having a notch in one edge thereof receiving said screw, and a hook mounted on the screw and engageable with the opposite edge.
4. A suspension clamp comprising a pairof pivotally connected members, suspension means carried by one member, an ad ustable clamping screw pivotally connected with other and terminating in enlarged heads, a
suspension member depending from the center of the horizontal portion of the L- shaped section, the L-shaped section having one side edge of its upright portion formed with a slot, cars on the inner face ofthe second named section, aserew member pivoted at one end between said cars and having its other end carrying a clamping nut, said screw being normally received within said slot and a hook member apertured for the passage of said screw and engageable with the unslotted edge of the l..- shaped section for holding the screw against swinging movement.
6. A device of the character described comprising a pair of pivotally connected members, suspension means depending from one member, clamping plates carried by both members, a screw pivotally connected with one memberfor movement in a horizontal plane, the other member having a horizontally extending notch receiving said screw, an adjusting nut on the screw, and a retaining member rotatably engaged upon the screw and adapted to engage-against the unnotched edge of the second named member for maintaining the screw in the notch.
In testimony whereof I hereto affix my signature.
