In the construction of my device, I employ a main frame having side rails 7. Adjacent the ends of these side rails are end rails 8. These end rails are provided with elongated slots 9, which extend entirelyT lheretbrough. Extending through the rail ,1Q andithreugh the slots 9 are bolts-11'?, vehicle, slidablgyv sec'uiie the sections to the main trame;n i i lVhen my device is intended to be used as a double bed the sections `are pushed together, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and thus form practically a continuous spring for the bed. It will be noted in this instance, however, that the combined width of the sections is greater than that oit the main traine, this extension or width varying according` to the-.size of bed used. That is, it the device is used on afsingle bed, the sections will extend further over the" edges of the main` Jframe than when used on a threequarter size. V

lNhen it is desired to transform the bed into twin beds, the sections are moved apart, as illustrated in Fig. 3, and the legs 15 lowered so as to rest on the floor. In this manner the rails 11 will be supported while the rails 12 `are supported by the bars 10, thus removing all strain trom the bolts 17 and S0 ypreventing any sagging of the sections.

It will also be noted from Fig. 3 that when the sections are pulled apart, the rails 12 do not cover the bars 10 entirely, but leave a projecting shoulder, and on this projecting shoulder either a hammock can be supported iny which a small child can sleep, or a table can be supported between the twin beds. M

It will be noted that the bars 7 project 90 on both ends of the main frame. rIhis is for the purpose of preventing contact of the sections with the head and foot of the bed, as the bars 7 are made justlong enough to fit in the bed. i

My device can be used either in iron beds or in the old-fashioned wooden bed whereslats are employed, for supporting the mattress, and in this event all the slats except the slat at the head and the slat at the toot et the bed are removed, an d the main 'traine rested oli-these two slats only.

My device is especially intended for hotel purposes, as by having a number of these devices on hand, a room containing only a single bed can be quickly cquippedwith double or twinbeds without the necessity ot-moving bedsteads from one room toanother.
