UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN D. GREEN, OF YIPSILANTI, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR F ONE-HALF T0 WILLIAM E.
MAUEER, 0F YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN.
TRUING- DEVICE FOR GRINDER WHEELS.
Application filed October 10, 1921. Serial No. 506,937.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN D. GREEN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Ypsilanti, in the county of Wash tenaw and State of Michigan, have in vented certain new and useful Imprdvements in Truing Devices for Grinder Wheels, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to apparatus particularly designed for use in the truing of,
dental grinder wheels, and it is the object of the invention to provide for truing of dental grinder wheels, and it is the object of the invention to provide for truing of the Wheel While attached to the dental engine. To this end the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter set forth.
In thed'rawings *igure l, is a perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 is an end elevation. Figure 3 is a side elevation thereof.
2 Grinder wheels which are used upon dental engines often become excentric through uneven wear. This usually necessitates the exchanging of the wheel for a true one be fore the work can be continued.
With my improvementthe operator can at any time quickly true upv an excentric wheel without removing itfrom the spindle. The device comprises essentially a suporting base A, on which are arranged a pair of aligned bearings, B B at the top of the standard C. These bearings are of V-shape and are so arranged that when the hand tool of the dental engine is placed thereon the axis of the spindle will assume a per pendicular position. D is a third standard rising from the base and having at its upper end a bearing E forreceiving a tapering sleeve F. The rear end of this sleeve is threaded for engagement with the clamping end G for securing the sleeve in H is an ad usting screw em the bearin g.
gaging one end of the sleeve F and forming a means for longitudinally adjusting a stick I of an abrasive inaterlal.
The axis grinder Wheel thereby truing the same.
The construction is one which can be conveniently placed upon the dental table or tool holder and is therefore in readiness for use at any time.
What I claim as my invention is:
A truing device for dental grinder wheels comprising a base, a pair of standards rigging from said base, aligned V-shaped bearings' at the upper ends of said standards for receiving the hand tool of a dental engine and exactly positioning the axis of the spindle thereof, a third standard rising from said base laterally offset with respect to the axis of said spindle, a bearing at the upper end. of said third standard having its axis perpendicular to the axis of said spindle, a sleeve inside the third bearing, an abrasive stick adjustably engaging said sleeve and an adjusting screw for said stick.
