Any inaccuracies in manufacture or wear may be taken care of by loosening' the screws 32 adjusting the screwsv 33, and then turning the screws 32 home.
In Figs. 9 and l() a modified arrangement of connecting the two platens to the framework is illustrated. In this embodiment a pair of standards 43 is secured by screws 44 to the frame members 12. The upper ends of said standards are perforated for the re.-
ception 'of a transversely extending,A rod 45. The upper plat-enst is `provided with a pair of perforated lugs 47 through which the rod may be inserted. A pair of links 4S per- 'lorated at their upper ends are placed on the rod 45. In this embodiment the lower platen 4i) is also provided with a pair of perforated lugs 50. An adjustable connection is, therefore, provided between the links 4'. and the platen 49. The platens are clamped together and the machine is operated in a manner similar to thecmbodi` ment hereinbefore described. I do not intend to liniit my invention to the details of construction shown and described herein, eXcept only in sofaras certain of ythe appended claims are specifically so limited, as it will be obvious that varioiis modifications may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the prin- Eciples of the invention.

A stereotypers casting machine comprising a ,supporting frame including a horizontally extending rod, a pair of platens, one of said platens being swinging-ly connected at one end to said rod, a pair of L-shaped links, said respective linksbeing pivoted at one end on said rod, the other of ySaid platens being pivotally connected to the other end of said respective links, adjusting screws associated with said respective links and said last-mentioned platen, `and means for locking said platens together.

A stereotypers casting machine comprising supporting frame, a pair of platens, one of said platens being pii'otally connected to said frame, a. pair of links pivotally connected at one end to said frame so as to swing about Ithe axis of the pivotal connection first named, said links at .the other end being connected to the other of said platens, one of said two last named connections being adjustable, and means for locking said platens together.

A stereotypers casting machine comprising a supporting frame including a horizontally Aextending rod, va pair of platens, one of said platens being swingingly attached at one end to said rod, a pair of links pivotally connected at one end to said rod and at the other end to the other of said platens, one of said connections being adjustable, and means for locking said platens together. y

A stereotypers casting machine comprising a supporting frame, a pair of platens, one of said platens being pivotally connected to said frame, a pair Aof links pivot ally'connected at one end to said frame so as to swing about the axis of the pivotal connection first named, the other of said ,platens `being pivotally connected to the other end of said links whereby said platens maybe swung from a horizontal to a vertical position, or vice versa, means for locking said platens together, and a container for molten metal mounted on said frame and so arranged that molten metal may flow therefrom into the casting chamber when said platens are in the vertical position.

In a stereotypers casting machine, the combination of a pair of platens, and means to clamp said platens together comprising a link pivotally connected at one end to one of said platens, and a cam member pivotally connected to the other end of said link, the other of said platens having a seat adapted to receive said cam member.

In a stereotypers casting machine, the combination of a pair of platens, and means to clamp said platens together (.omprising a cam member, and a link pivotally connected at one end to one of said platens and at the other end to said cam member, one of said connections being adjustable, the other of said platens having a seat adapted to receive said cam member.

In a stereotypcrs casting machine, the combination of a pair of platens, a fastening member adjustabiy connected to one of said platens, a cam member, and a link piv- 4otally connected at one end to said fastening member and at the other end to said cam member, the other of said platens having a seat adapted to receive said vcam mehr ber.

In a stereotypers casting machine, the combination of a pair of platens, a fastening'member adjustably attached to one of said platens, a cam member, and a link pivotally. connected at one end to said fastening member and at the other end to said cam member, one of said connections being adjustable, the other of said platens having a seat adapted to receive said cam member.

In a stereotypers casting machine, the combination of a pair of platens, an L- shaped fastening member one leg of which is provided with a slot and the other of which is perforated and screw-threaded, fastening means carried by one of said platens and projecting through said slot, an adjusting screw projecting through said perforation and abutting against the last-mentioned platen, a cam member, and a link pivotally connected at one end to said fastening member and at the other end to said cam member, the other of said platens having a seat adapted to receive said cam member.
