Abstract

116,732. Strettles, S., and Lee, T. May 1, 1917. Moulding-machines; flasks; clamping. - A moulding-machine has a table 1 carried on supports 2. In the table is a wide opening 3 in which rest a pair of brackets 5 secured to. the table by bolts. A pattern plate 8 is also secured to the table, by bolts 7, Fig. 3. The brackets 5 serve as guides for sliding members 11, the upper ends 12 of which are adapted to support the moulding-box. These members 11 are connected by a bar to which is pivoted a link 13 also pivoted to a lever on a spindle 15 which carries at one end a lever 16 by means of which the box can be raised or lowered. The upper flask b is carried by trunnions in a frame 22 rotatably mounted on a spindle 17 which can be raised or lowered by a lever 21 connected to it by a link 19. The flask can thus be placed in the frame in the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, swung round over the lower flask, turned over, and lowered on to the lower one. The edges of the flasks are bevelled outwards and inwards alternately, as shown in Fig. 3, so that, when two flasks are brought together, the sand fans come into contact before the bevelled edge of the flasks.
