Be it known that I. JAMES A. BLAoKwooD, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Jersey City,in the county ersey, have invented a new and Improved Window- Cleaners Seat,.of which the following is a description.
e present invention relates to new and improvements in window cleaners seats.
It is one of the to provide a anchored to a objects of the invention window sill in posit'on person washing the window s'tt-ing thereon.
It is a further object of the invention to construct a seat of this character in such a manner that it will occupy a horizontal plane although used upon w ndow sills having an upper inclined face as commonly constructed.
It is a further object of the invention to construct the Wlndow seat in such a manner that 1t 1s adjustable for use in connecto persafely v tion with Window sills of different pitch and dimensions. v
With the above and other objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying dra-wings in which igure 1 is a view partly in elevation and partly in section of a window cleaners seat constructed in accordance with the present invention:
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view thereof. Referring more particularlyv to the drawings the reference character 5 designates a. Window sill and said window sill is inclined as shown in Figure 1. The reference character 6 designates the seat and said seat is provided on its under face with two support-ing blocks 7.
Secured to one end of the seat 6 are hooks 8 and said hooks are provided with a. suitable lining 9 to prevent scarring the front end -of that portion 10 of the window sill with which the hooks 8 engage.
Seat which will be securely and each of said bolts passes b l engaging provide with a channel or cut-out portion 14 in its rear end and said channels or cut-out portions 14 are adapted to receive guide pins 15 carried b v the seat 6 to prevent swinging movement of the supporting blocks about their bolt 11. e groove or cut-out portion 14 also permits of longitudinal movement of the blocks to permit of adjustment.
The device is used in the following manner:
The hooks 8 are supporting blocks 4 with the member 16 of the sill 5 is Each of the engaged with the portion 10 of the window sill as shown in Figure 1 after which the seat is dropped to a horizontal position and the blocks are adjusted so that their foot portions 15 will rest on the window sill 5 adjacent the member 16 thereof. When the blocks have been so positioned. it will be apparent that the seat can be removed only b v elevating the rear end thereof, sliding movement of the seat being prevented in one direction b v the hooks 8 and in the other direction bv the foot portions 15 of the blocks 7.
From the forego`ng it is apparent that the present .invention provides a window seat which is capable of securement to a window sill in such a manner as to prevent sliding movement or accidental displacement thereof. Furthermore. a seat constructed in accordance with the invention is adapted for use in connection with windows of va.- rious styles and dimensions.
H( ving thus described my invention, what claim is:
