G. LECQPO ULOS TABLE ARTICLE Filed June 16, 924

GEORGE LEGOPOULOS, OF CI-IICOPEE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
TABLE ARTICLE.
Application filed. June 16, 1924. Serial No. 720,268.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, G-nonon LECOPOULOS, a subject of the King of Greece, residing at Chicopee Falls, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Table Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a novel device which may be conveniently termed a table article, the same being designed for table use in restaurants and private homes.
The primary feature of the invention is a unitary and comparatively compact structure which embodies separate and independent means for containing sugar, for holding condiment containers, matches, toothpicks, and the like, and a support for paper napkins.
It is another feature of the invention to provide rotatable spiders for supporting the condiment holders and the like so that these can be moved into convenient reach of the table occupant.
Another advantage is derived from providing a sugar bowl which is equipped with a plurality of hinged covers permitting one or more persons to use the sugar at the same time. I
Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and drawings:
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1. represents a side elevation of the improved table article as constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a section taken on the line Q-2 of Figure 1.
In carrying out the invention I provide a sugar bowl 1 of any suitable configuration, the same, as before indicated, being equipped with a plurality of separate hinged covers 2. In the present instance these covers are of triangular formation, although they may be designed otherwise. Rising from the center of the bottom of the sugar bowl is a vertical standard 3 which extends to any convenient height. At its top it is provided with a suitably shaped plate 4 which constitutes a base upon which napkins may be placed. For confining the napkins, the plate is provided with upstanding retainers 5 provided at their tops with apertures through which a removable retaining pin 6 is passed.
Supported on the intermediate portion of the standard and at points vertically spaced from each other, are upper and lower spiders 7, the first named of which is comparatively small. At their centers these spiders are provided with hubs which rotatably surround the standard and the radiiating arms thereof are provided at their outer ends with cups 8; To facilitate rotation of these spiders, ball races 9 are fastened to the standards beneath the hub portions of the spiders. the lower spider may be utilized for recepion of comparatively larger containers such as are used for holding vinegar, mustard ketchup or the like. The cups of the upper spider may contain the comparatively smaller condiment holders, matches, to0thpicks or the like.
Fromthe foregoing description and drawings it is obvious that I have provided a particularly practical and advantageous device which is highly desirable for restau-- rant use and that. it can be placed in the center of the table and can be conveniently used by several persons at the same time. Provision of the separate covers, and separate compartments if it is desired to use the latter, eliminates the usual embarrassment experienced by two strange persons using the sugar bowl at the same time. Rotatable mounting of the spiders permits selective use of the dressings and condiments without inconvenience and embarrassment.
Vl hile I have shown and described a specific structure for carrying the invention into effect, it is to be understood that minor changes required in practice, may be resorted to without departing from thespirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
A table article supporting device of the class described comprising a bowl having a base to rest upon the table, said bowl l1avings its top closed by a plurality of individual cover sections, a vertically disposed standard rising from the center of the bottom of the bowl, and extending above said cover section, a horizontal article supporting plate mounted upon the top of said The larger cups of standard, retaining arms carried by said plate and projecting upwardly therefrom, being provided at their upper ends With apertures, a pin removably inserted through said apertures, and vertically spaced superposed spiders rotatably mounted upon the intermediate portion of the standard between the plates and bowl, the uppermost spider being comparatively small, all of thearrns of the spiders being provided at 1 their outer ends With cups.
In testimony whereof I iny ture.
GEORGE LECOPOULOS.
