To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN MCGLURE, of the city of Lookhaven, in the county of Clinton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Mode of Fastening the Corners of Foundry-Flasks, so as to prevent them from becoming loose from long use, or from other causes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in providing each corner of the flask with a detachable clamp, which is composed of cast metal, constructed as hereinafter more fully ex' plained.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
I construct my flask either square or 0blong, as the case requires, beveling the corners in a miter-box, thus fitting the flask t0- gether at the corners. On each corner of the flasksI place a metallic side plate, 0, having a central longitudinal groove, g. These side plates are attached by means of lugs, sunk into the Wood of the flask. a is a metallic plate, having a rectangular portion, which fits over the corner of the flask, and into grooves f of the plates 0. In the rectangular portion of the plate a are notches corresponding with the transverse grooves g of the plates 0. The plates are firmly secured by means of the key I). The plate a projects out from the corners, and has a rounded bead at its edge, thus forming a convenient handle to the flask, as Well as a firm connection to the corners.
