` UNITED STATES ADOLF GOTTLILEB, OF BBiUNN, CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
HalvenlaY STRAP.
Application mea october 15, 1923. serial No. 668,742.V
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ADoLr Go'rrnrric, a citizen of the C'Zechoslovakian Republic, and residing at V Hlinkae 146, Brunn, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Hanger Straps, of which the following is a speciiication.
It has already been pro-posedto construct the upper part above .the grip of. hanger devices for passengers in train cars and the like soV as to act as a carrier for advertising matter. I-Iitherto two groups of such hanger devices have been diierentia-ted which however are neither as simple as such devices should be nor display the advertising matter to the best advantage, owing to space for this purpose being insuiiicient. One of these two groups ot hanger devices uses a deiinite frame-like structure, which is suspended from the common supporting bar of the tram car and to the lower part 'of which a gripping part is'attached. These arrangements haveA the disadvantage that they are complicated and exclude the use ol" the usual hand-shaped material for making such hanger straps. It has also been proposed and such constructions forni the second of the groups el hanger strapswith an advertising device referred to, to make the hand used tor the hanger strap considerably wider at one part and to use this part either directly as a. display board or indirectly as tho back of a iframe, into which the advertising cards or' the like are slipped. It has further' been proposed to draw the bandshaped parts of the hanger strap through strap buckles of flat frames, which rest against the band o the hanger strap and into the opcningvof which the advertising cards areslippcd. i
rlhis last named group oi hanger straps could never be ot any practical importance as the size of the said band part or traine in the plane at right angles to the plane of the loop of the strap, i. e. in the breadth direction ol the band is very limited, since advertising boards projecting to such an cxtent beyond the width oft' the band as would give them practical importance could-not be used for aesthetic reasons or reasons of safety. y y
To overcome these drawbacks is the obj ect ot the prese-nt invention, according to which the problem which has never been solved in a practical manner of combining advertising devices with hanger straps for passengers, is now solved by the advertising plates being placed transversely of the open loops. Hence the advertising plates lie parallel to the plane passing through the open loop of the hanger, so that without extending beyond the loop a considerably greater span than was hitherto the case is available for the advertising plates and a practical solution of the who-le of the problem may be said to have been found. Y
In the accompanying drawing a construe# tional 'form of such a hanger strap is shown, n
Fig. l being a side view partly in section and i Fig. 2 a cross-section l The lower part of grip of the hanger strap l may be provided with a cover 2 preferably of enamelled sheet metal.
According to the invention `the advertising plates are to lill transversely the openingof the hanger strap, which is open or held open, above the grip part. In a simple constructional form the principal advertising plates form indirectly or directly the walls lying` parallel to the plane, in which the open loop lies, of a casing, through which the band-shaped parts of the hanger are drawn and rests in any suitable man ner on the said bands. The frame-shaped casing 4 is 'further provided with transverse bars 5, which' are held between the broader side walls ol the casing and together with the narrow side-s of the casing form as it were openings bounded on all sides, through which the band-shaped parts vof the hanger are drawn, so as to keep the latter open. The casing 4i rests `forl instance on small' plates 3, through which (he parts l of the hangerwstrap and which themselves rest on the edge of the cover The advertising'matter is stencilled eitl'ier directly on the outer surfaces of the side walls el the casing Ll or advertising plates are inserted. in suitable guides on the sidewalls of the casing 4t. Y
lVhat I claim is v l. A hanger strap for the use of passengers in cars having in combination with an open strap having a grip part and a single loop for suspending it froina supporting ico advertising pla-tes transversely filling the Y open part in the strap above the grip.
2. AV hangerstrap for the use of passen-v gers in ears having 1n combinationv with av strap having a grip parti, means for holding the strap open, and av Casi-ng transversely' filling the open part in the strap and having Walls used for advertising matter above the grip, the strap passing through said easing, and the easing being held det-aehably on lthe stra-p.
3; A hanger strap, as claimed in ela-im 2,
and in which the means for keeping the strap open consists of transverse bars secured to the easing.
4. A hanger-strap, as claimed in ela-im 2, and having detachable small plates above the grip serving as a rest for the easing.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 2n name to this specieation.
ADOLF GOTTLIEB.
