aucunes* Patented Mar.. 17, 1925.
UNIITD srarns rarsur rifles.
SARAH MARCUS, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
PURSE.
Application filed May 29,
State of Pennsylvania, have invented cerf tain new and useful Improvements in Purses, of which the following is a specification. y
This invention relates t0 a purse and more particularly to a combined purse, bill fold, vanity compact and memorandum book, and provided with means for securing it to the wrist of the wearer. .t
One of the important objects of the invention is the provision of an elastic wrist band adapted to be strapped to the purse and which can be replaced' when stretched orworn out.
Another object of this invention isthe provision of a compact which fits into an opening provided in the wall of the bill fold and which can be easily replaced.
Other objects will appear as the disclosure progresses. The drawings are merely intended to indicate a possible embodiment of the invention. It is obvious that the actual needs of manufacture may necessitate cer*l tain mechanical changes. It is, therefore, not intended to limit the invention to the embodiment illustrated, but rather to define such limits in the appended claims.
In general, the device consists of a purse, a bill fold, a compact inserted in one of the walls of the bill fold, a change holding compartment, attached to the inside Walls of the bill fold, a replaceable wrist band and straps to attach the wrist band to the purse.
For a more detailed understanding of the invention, attention is now called to the drawings in which a preferred embodiment is shown illustrated. In these drawings, like parts are designated by like reference characters in all the views.
Figure 1 is an inside view of the device shown in an unfolded position.
Figure 2 is a section substantially on line 2`2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a similar view of the purse shown in Figure 1, in a folded position.
Figure 4 is a rear view of the purse shown in Figure 3 looking in the direction of ar row A.
1924. Serial No` 716,757.
Figure 5 is a view showing the frame in which-the compact fits.
- Figure 6 is a section on line 6 6 of Figure5.
Figure 7 is a section on lin`e7-7 of Figure l, showing the replaceable band.
Figure 8 is a modification band shown in Fig. 7.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, numeral 1 designates the body, and 2 and 3 outside and inside facings which compose of the wrist 'i the bill fold 4. The facings 2 and 43 are stitched together at the bottom and sides.
At. the top, snap fasteners 5 are provided to lock the upper edges of the facings together.
Attached to the inside facing 3 at the left is a change purse 6. The purse consists of a wall member 7 stitched to the acing 3 at three sides.
One side is left open and provided with snap fasteners 8 for fastening to the said facing. Nithin the wall member 7 an identification card is inserted.
For securing to the wrist of the wearer, a wrist band 9 is provided having an adjustable buckle 10 at the top, and a snap fastener 11 in the center. In Figure 8, the modified form of the wrist band 12 has an auxiliary strap 18 fastened at 14, 15 and 16 to the wrist band, providing spaces for inserting handkerchief, etc.
To secure the wrist bandk to the body of the purse, straps 17, 18 and 19, having snap fasteners 20, are provided. It will be seen that the wrist band can be easily replaced by unfastening` the straps 17, 18 and 19 and the snap fastener 20, and slipping the band ofi' the purse. Numeral 21 designates a pad of paper secured in place by the tension of the wrist band. y
Within the facing 3, an opening is provided having a metal frame 22 surrounding same.. This frame is for the purpose of holding a compact 23 snugly in place. The frame 22 is composed of a flange 2a riveted to the facing and a rim 25, said frame being split at 26. The compact 23 as will be noticed in Figure 2 is provided with a groove 27 which fits the rim 25 of the frame 22. The slot 26 is provided for the purpose of allowing the frame 22 to give somewhat so the compact Will snap in place. .The material of the facing is of such nature as to stretch With the slight opening of the frame at the slit when the compact is being,` inserted.
Numeral 28 designates complementary snap fasteners for snapping the ends of the purse together for folding, as Wil-l beseenin Figure 3.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention is shown and described in detail, it will be understood that various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of'construction may be resorted to Without departing Afrom the spirit, or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as defined by the appended claims,
Having now described the invention, What I claim is:
l. In a device of the class described in combination, an outer and an inner facing comprising a bill fold, a cut-out portion in the said inner facing, a frame fitting around the'lsa'id cut-out portion, a split in the said frame, anda compact adapted to fit into the said frame.
'2Q Thewcombination of a compacta groove in the Vsaid compact, a frame to fit into the said groove, the said frame being permanently attached to a wall member of a Wallet.
3. In a device of the class: described in combination, an outer and an inner facing comprising a bill fold, a cutout portion in the said inner facing, a frame permanently attached to the said inner facing and fitting around the said cut-out portion, and a compact adapted to fit in the said frame.
4. In a device of the class described in combination, an outer and an inner facing comprising a bill fold, a cut-out portion in the said inner facing, a frame fitting around the said cut-out portion, a split in the said frame, a compact adapted to lit into the said frame, and a groove in the said compact cooperating with the said frame for resiliently keeping the said compact in place.
5. The combination of a compact, a groove inthel said compact, a frame tov iit into the said groove, the said frame beingl permanently attached to a Wall member of a Wallet, and a cut-out portion in the said Wall member registering With the said frame.
6. In a device of the class described in combination, an inner facing forming one Wall of a bill fold, an opening` in the, said facing, a ring attached to the 'said facing and fitting around said opening, a split in the said ring, the said ring adapted to resiliently support a compact.
7. In a Wrist band in combination, an upper portion, an adjustable buckle, al snap fastener, a vlower portion and auxiliary straps attached to the said lower portion.
In testimony whereof Il aiiix my signature.
