. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. WILLIAM J. CAMPBELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful IVater-Circulating Pump, of which i invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a pump embodying my. invention, with adjacent poi"- tions of theengine of a well known make of automobiles, and Fig. 2 is a plan of the parts shown in Fig. 1.
In the drawings 10 indicates a fitting formed for attachment'at the water inlet opening of, the water jacket of engine 11.
Fitting 10 is provided with a water passage 12 having a circular receiving end to Which is secured a pump body 14 having a pump chamber 15 which, at its discharge end, registers with the receiving end of passage 12.
Body 14 is rovided with an extension 16 arranged'axia lly of pump chamber 15 and provided at its ends with shaft bearings 17, 17 separated by an oil chamber 18, and at its outer end provided with a packing gland 19.
Journalled in bearings 17 is an impeller shaft 20 the outer end of which carries a pulley 21. Secured to theinner end of shaft 20 is a screw-type impeller 22 lying within chamber 15. Y 7
Leading into the receiving end of chamber 15, preferably at an acute angle to the axis thereof, is an inlet passage 23 adapted to be connected, by any suitable connection, such as a flexible hose, with the lower part of a radiator (not shown).
As there is always a possibility that the belt driving pulley 21 may tend to thrust the shaft inwardly, I resist such thrust by a bridge bar 25 arranged across passage 12 and body 14: and having a central portion 26 against which the inner end of shaft 20 abuts. v V
Bar 25 and part 26 are preferably given stream-line cross-sections so as to offer minimum resistance to water flow.

It will be noted that the constructionis such that the impeller chamber self draining without the need of speclal drainagepassages.
