To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SUsAN CLARE PEAR- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing in Manhattan, in the city, county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Manicure Implements, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to toilet articles especially that type adapted for smoothing,

10 polishing, shaping and cleaning of the nails and has for its object the production of a device of this character which will be of durable and economical construction, one which will be of small dimensions closely l5 fitting the end of one finger of one hand and when thus manipulated to operate on the fingers of another hand.

The invention consists of a toilet article formed of erasive material having a ring portion adapted to snugly fit the end of a finger. The shape of the article is such that it may be readily applied to any portion of the nail for smoothing, polishing, shaping and cleaning of the parts thereof.

The foregoing and other features of my invention will now be described in connection with the accompanying drawing forming part of the specification in which I have represented my device embodying the im provements in its preferred form, after which I shall point out more particularly in the claims those features which I believe to be new and of my own invention.

Referring to the accompanying one sheet of drawings, in which similar characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views Figure l is a top view of my device.

Figure 2 is a side view of my device.

Figure 3 is a side view at right angles to that shown in Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a section on lines l4, Figure 2.

In the carrying out of my invention I provide a ring 1 with a cap 2 surmounted on its perimeter. The cap 2 is provided with a pointed projection 3 so formed that it will be convenient for use to clean the underside of the finger nails. On the opposite end of the cap 2 is a curved blunt projection 4 conforming in shape to a finger nail so that 1924. Serial No. 714,584.

it may be used to contact with the convex contour of the nail and fit snugly around and be used to rub back the cuticle. In the top of the cap 2 I provide an abrasive insert 5. I use the word abrasive as distinguished from erasive, also used throughout the specifications, to bring out clearly the difference in degree of roughness of the cleaning and polishing surface from that used for the filing of .the nail. For example should I make my device of vulcanized rubber, the ring aortion would be elastic to stretch over anc fit snugly different sizes of fingers while in the material for the cap I would mix a pumice or emery to give it erasive quality while more and coarser emery would be mixed in the material used as inset for filing the nails.

In using my manicure implement it may be put on the end of either finger as may be convenient with the cap portion on the palm side. As will be readily understood the point 3 would be a convenient means for cleaning the underside of the nail and when the ring was put on in the reverse position the blunt curved end 4 would be used to push back the cuticle.

I wish it distinctly understood that my manicure implement herein described and illustrated is in the form in which I desire to construct it and that any changes or variations may be made as may be convenient or desirable without departing from the salient features of my invention, and I therefore intend the following claims to cover such modifications as naturally fall within the lines of invention.

I claim 1. In a device of the class described a ring portion surmounted with an integral cap of erasive material, with an inset of abrading material.

2. In a device of the class described in combination an elastic ring portion, a cap integral thereto mounted on the ring portion made of erasive material and provided with a sharp projecting portion on one side and a blunt curved portion on the opposite side and an inset abrading surface interposed between the sharp and blunt portions.
