R. TAYLOR CLEARER ROLLER FOR COMBING MACHINES Filed Feb. 26, 1924 ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 10, 1925.
ROBERT TAYLOR, OF OLDHAM, ENGLAND.
OLEARER ROLLER FOR COMBING MACHINES.
Application filed February 26, 1924. Serial No. 695,161.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ROBERT TAYLOR, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Soho Iron Vorks, Oldham, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clearer Rollers for Combing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in or relating to means for mounting clearer rollers for machines for treating cotton.
It is desirable that the clearer roller of a combing machine for treating cotton should be suitably mounted in its bearings in such manner as to minimize wear and tear and the object of the present invention is to provide means for attaining this end.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is an end elevation of a clearer roller mounted according to the present invention and connected mechanism, and
Figure 2 is a sectional side elevation of one end of the roller.
Referring to the drawings1 represents the roller, 2 represents the usual ratchet wheel, 3 represents the pawl, 4 represents the adjustable arm carrying the ratchet wheel 2, and 5 represents the bracket carrying the adjustable arm 4. j a
The end of the roller 1 is provided with a metal hoop or ring 6 pinned to the roller 1 by means of a pin 7 and the ratchet Wheel 2 is mounted upon a spindle 8 which fits a hole in the roller 1 in the usual manner.
The adjustable arm 4 is furnished with a prolonged boss P which embracesthe spindle 8 and enters the recess formed by the hoop or ring 6 and thus provides a wide bearing for the roller and minimizes wear and tear.
hat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is Means for mounting the clearer rollers of combing machines comprising a recess of comparatively large diameter in the end of the roller and a prolonged. boss upon the adjustable arm adapted to project into said recess in order to give a wide bearing substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
ROBERT TAYLOR.
