fore been used but have certain vobjections, being either too ex ensive to manufacture,

Our improved frame and tie overcomes these various objections.

This wire is such CTI that it may be readily bent into various angles. The frame B is then preferably fastened to a' lining or backing 8 which is usually made of cotton wadding. To fasten the element B to the backing 8 we preferably sew the parts' together as indicated at the Vdotted lines 9. This is a cheap and effective way of assembling the parts.

The complete insert, that is the metallic reinforced shaping element B and the backing or filler 83are then built into the tie as it is made up, this being indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 1.

The tie may now he shaped as desired by 65 bending the wings back against the collar, away from the collar'or straight across, asl indicated by the full' and dotted lines in Fig. 2. Also it will be apparent, that th'e wings may be bent up or down if desired. In fact,

. they may be readily placed at almost any angle where they will remain u ntil changedaccording to the will of the wearer.

The combination with a. bow tie, of a shaping insert built into thetie as itis made up, said insert including a. straight pliable wire strip, two paper fastening facingsfsecured together over said'strip, and a filler or backing to which said facings are sewed to form a unit insert shaped to be held in thetie, said wire strip and paper tacings being readily bendable so as to permit moving the tie wings into various angular positions as desired.
