UNITED STATES WILLIAM C. PAPPAS, F BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA.
BILLIARD CUE AND TIP.
Application filed December 23, 1921.
T 0 all whom 2'2, may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM C. Parr/as,
a citizen of Greece, residing at Berkeley,
in the county of Alamedaand State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Billiard Cues and Tips, of which the following is a specifica tion.
Hy invention is an improved pool and billiard cue tip, which comprises improved means for detachably securing the tip to the cue.
Referring to the annexed drawing which torms a part of this specification:
The figure in the drawing is a transverse sectional view of a billiard cue embodying my invention.
To the end of a cue 1 is secured a ferrule 2, which surrounds a reduced end 3, and the end of said ferrule projecting slightly above the cue end 3. A screw 4 is secured in the cue end 3, said screw having a shoulder 5 formed thereon to prevent it from being forced into the cue from the constant shock. The tip 6 has a shank 7 which extends from a head 8. The shank 7 fits Within the fer- Serial No. 524,522.
forces the shank into closer contact with the i ferrule, and this holds it securely against displacement.
The shank 7 is comparatively short so that the entire tip may be made from a single thickness of leather, which is a great saving of time and material.
Having described my invention, I claim:
In a billiard cue and tip comprising a ferrule mounted on one end of the cue and projecting beyond the same, a head having a shank adapted to fit in the socket thus formed and a screw having a diameter at its base equal to at least one-third of that of said socket, said screw being secured to the end of the cue in said socket and tapering upwardly to a blunt point, whereby when said head is screwed into said socket, said shank will be substantially expanded into tight fit against the inner walls of the projecting portion of said ferrule.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
IVILLIAM C. PAPPAS.
