' To ally/ham it may cone-emf] i I Be it known that I, NICHOLAS, RIPBEN- 'BEIN, a citizen of the United Sta-teal. and
resident of Jainaica,'"Long. Island,'fin' the county of Queens and "State of 'New 'York,;'.' e
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Merchandise Commas, .of which the following is a specification.
' My invention relates to the'. class of containers adapted to contain, oods for, storage H and transportation and to e opened toaot' asfa support for the goods to displa'ythe;
I same.
An object of Iny inventioniis'toprovide a container comprising: two niain portions liin ed togetheradapted to"contain goods,

such a manner that whenthe two 'p'ortions of thecon-tainer are opened out and rested upona flat support one of said. portions will serve as a support forthe goods to display theni -a nd theotherportion will serve as a;
back or restto' retaini the goods in exposed position.
, Alfurther object 01": my Iinvn ibn isito provide a container'of,thecharacter specified which will be simple and cheaptomanuv facture, and in which thegoods may be in-., sertedf at low cost of time and Q labor, the
j." container requiring aminimum of material tain goods therein; J .Fig. 2 is a' perspective view illustrat ng and which may be readily opened o t for, i display purposes. a
My invention comprises have details of Reference is to be hadto theacconipany ing drawings forming a parthereofliwhere 40 proved container in closed position :to re the container. opened in position to receive goods ithecontainer in display position supporting which my improved container may be made goods;

Therwalt theiscore line 16, to: beset up substantially 3 and platform 12'are hinged together at the score line 19. The adjacent longitudinal score lines 7, 9, 14 and 18 of the'blank are virtually a continuous score line.
Means are provided to detachably, secure the portions 1, 2 together when set up for use, for which purpose I have shown a flap hinged to wall 15 at the score lin 21,
(Fig. 5), and provided with tongucs'22 onopposite sides to engage slits .23 in wall 4 'to retain the parts together.

The outer edges 6 of thesl acute angle to the sides of wall 4 alongthe score lines 7 and the outer edges 13 of the sides 13 are at an acute angle to the sides of platform 12 along the score lines 14, the
: edges 6 and'13, when the blank is opened out flat, being substantially parallel on correspondingsides of the, blank. As illus-' trated, the edges fi 'diverge from the end. 4 of wall 4 and the edges 13 correspond in'gly diverge from the scoreline 19, so that when the container is set up and the portions is set up, produce diagonals between the opposite corners at the sides of the container,
1 and 2 are closed the edges 6 and 13 will oppose and correspond to produce a rectangular parallelopip'ed- The linesof junction ofthe edges 6,-13, when the container as illustrated in Fig. 1. The score lines 11 and 13? of the sides 6 andv 13 (Fig. 5), permit sai d'sides to be folded inwardly upon wall 4 and platform 12 respectively, so that the folded portions 10 of the sides 6 will lie between thewalls 3 and 4 and the ortions 13 of the sides 13 will'lie between't' e platform 12-and wall 15 when the containeris collapsedor folded for'transportation or storage, (Fig. 4). When folded the flap 20 is extended along'theplatform 12.
Instead of providing sc'ore lines 13 in the sides "13 so that the'latter'at said score lines maybe folded between ,platform' 12 and "wall '15 the sides 13 may be left un-- scored,'as illustrated in Fig. 6, and score lines 15 maybe provided in wall 15 eX- tending diagonally to a point from the ends of score line '16. When the wings 17 have been secured to the sides 13 to retain the platform 12 and its end wall at right angles,
and it is desired to fold the container parts,
the wall 15 may be folded along the'score lines'15 while the sides 13 are being folded against platform 12, so that the portions 15 of wall 15 will overlie the-main-part of said wall, the ad'acent endsof the sides 13 V and the wings 1 Figs. 5 and 6). The con-,
folding inwardly at the score lines 18,
. tainer may 'benally folded as before described. In this instance I prefer to apply i the flap 20 at the outer endof the platform 4 atthe score line 21,and to provide the slits 23 in end wall 15 to receive the tongues '22, as in Fig. 6, to retain the container" closed-when set up for'use. I
ada ted to rest upon a flat surface.
the said two walls."
It will be understood that the triangular sides 13 are hinged at'their apices adjacent to the bases of the triangular sides 6, at the outer edge of end wall 3, so that the rectangular formation may be produced when the container is closed to retain goods therein, and whereby when the'portions 1 and 2 are opened out, as in Fig. 3, the platform will be in front of wall 3, with the supporting edges 6, 13 of the sides in a right line I The goo s A may be placed upon platform 12 for support in' position for display, the wall 3, perpendicular'to platform 12, serving as a back rest for the goods.
Having" now described my invention, what I claim is: I I
1. A foldable merchandise container comprising'two' recessed portions each having triangular sides and a pair of adjacent walls, said recessed portions being hinged together at the apices of the triangular sides the other portion having a main wall provided with triangular sides having edges inclined to said wall, the apices'of the-edges of said -sidesterminating at the hinge, the
second named p'ortion having an end wall provided with wings secured to 'the'second named sides.
3. A merchanise container comprising two recessed portions hinged together, one of said portions 'having a platform wall'and an end wall, said platform wall having hinged sides of substantially triangular shape having inclined supporting edges, the end wall having wings secured to said sides, the other portion having a main wall provided with "triangular sides having edges inclined to saidwall, the apices of the edges of said. sides terminating at the hinge, the
second named portion having an end wall provided-"with wings secured to the second named sides, one of said portions having a flap provided with aprojection and the other portion'having a slot to'receive such pro-jexztion.
