To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES Lnrnowrrz, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new Carboy, of which the fol- 1 lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention has for its object to provide a carboy with a body having a vertically extending guide-ways in which lateral supporting members are disposed, the lateral supporting members being removable from the body and being constructed in a manner which will, without great trouble, permit of the replacement of any part of the lateral supporting member which may be broken 1n servlce.

Another object of the invention is to construct the lateral supporting members in a manner which will'give the greatest pos sible strength and resiliency at the least possible expense.

Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of my invention is described:

This is a division of the United States application filed on March 30, 1923 under Serial No. 628,877.

By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the body 10, shown in the dotted lines in Fig. 1 of the drawings may be of crate construction, but it will be understood that any other form of construction may be employed. Disposed in the body 10 and secured to the sides thereof, there are standards 11 having guide-ways 12. The stand ards are vertically disposed in the guideways 12 and also extend vertically, the guide-ways 12 having their openings disposed obliquely as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. In these guide-ways 12 the lateral supporting members 13 are dis-posed, these lateral supporting members having horizontal members 14, the edges of which fit in the guide-ways 12, these horizontal members 14 being preferably s-paced apart and being connected by the vertically extending members 15. The vertically extending members 15 are preferably secured to the inner sides of the horizontally extending members 14 so that the bottle will rest against the vertically extending mem-- bers 15.

These lateral supporting members 13 may be laminated and in Figs. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are shown forms in which the lateral supporting members may be constructed in a laminated manner. In Figs. 3 and 4 is shown a lateral supporting member 13 having horizontal members 14 spaced apart which are connected by vertically extending members 15 The horizontal members 14 are laminated as illustrated in Fig. 4 of the drawings. Preferably only one part of the horizontal laminated members has its ends disposed in the guide-ways 12 but it will of course be understood that all the parts of the horizontal laminated members may have their ends disposed in the said guide-ways.

In the construction of the lateral. supporting member illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, the horizontal laminated members 14 are not spaced apart and they are arranged as shown in the drawings and are connected by the vertically extending members 15 111 the construction shown in Figs. 7 and 8 the horizontal laminated members 14 are narrower than are the horizontal laminated members 14, the horizontal laminated members 14 being spaced apart as illustrated and being connected by the vertically extending members 15".

In Fig. 3 of the drawings the guide-ways are not made in the standard 11 but to the said standard 11, guides 16 are secured,

these guides 16 having guide-ways 12 in which the ends of the horizontally extending members 14; are disposed.

Referring to Fig. 2 of the drawings, it Will be seen that the cushioning bottom illustrated is provided With horizontally extending resilient members 17 spaced apart which as shown, are substantially parallel to each other. The ends of these resilient members 17 are held above the bottom 01 the carboy by the supports 18. Disposed at an angle to: the

resilient members 17, there are resilient members 19 which are held abovethe bottom of the carboiy by sup-- ports 20.

Having, thus described my invention What I claim as'neav and desire to: protect. by Letters Patent is:

1. In. acarboy,
