JOSEPH FAZ'EKAS, 0F ST, PAUL, MINNESOTA.
LAUNDRY BOILER.
Application filed March 29, 1923.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Familias, a citizen of Hungary, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Laundry Boilers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in laundry boilers and has particular reference to a false bottom construction therefor which holds or suspends the clothes being washed at a point spaced above the rigid bottom wall of the boiler.
A further object of the invention is to provide in a laundry boiler of the type above set out the provision of a vertically adjustable false bottom for varying the distance between the rigid boiler bottom and the false bottom.
With the above and other objects in view as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure l is a longitudinal sectional View of a laundry boiler with the falselbottom, partly shown in section, positioned therein,
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the boiler with the false bottom,
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical longitudinal sectional View of the boiler showing the false bottom adjusted to an elevated position with a portion thereof shown in section,
Figure 4 is a detail sectional view showing one of the eXtensible seats for the false bottom,
Figure 5 is a detail sectional view taken on line V-V of Fig. 3 rod connections between the supporting feet for the false bottom,
Figure@ is a side elevational view of a modified form of false bottom and rigid supporting legs therefor, and
' Figure 7 is a horizontal'sectional view taken on line VII-VII of Fig. 6.
showing the brace Serial DTO. 628,488.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, there is illustrated a laundry boiler embodying a rigid bottom wall Il and a vertical side wall 2 having an inwardly directed iiange or bead 3 adjacent the bottom wall l as clearly shown in Figs. l and 3.
The false bottom 4 being perforated as at 5 over the entire surface thereof is of the same configuration as the bottom wall l of the boiler, and as shown in Fig. l is of a size to prevent lowering movement thereof below the inwardly directed bead 3.
Supporting legs 6 depend from the false bottom 4 and are preferably located as illustrated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, the legs being connected by brace rods 7. Each leg 6 is of hollow or tubular construction and has an extension foot 8 slidable therein, the several feet 8 being held in adjusted positions by the set screws 9 passing through the side walls of the tubular legs 6 adjacent the lower ends thereof as clearly shown in Figs. l, 3 and 4. It will therefore be seen that by adjusting the extensible feet 8 relative to the tubular supporting legs 6, the distance between the false bottom 4 and the rigid bottom l. of the boiler .may be varied as suggested in Fig. 3.
A modified forni of the invention is shown in Figs. (S and 7, the false bottom 4a carrying depending solid legs 6a connected by brace bars 7a, the legs 6L being preferably arranged as described in connection with the showing in Fig. 2.
While there are herein shown and described the preferred embodiments of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is A clothes boiling and draining device consisting of a receptacle having a vertical side wall provided with an internal bead extending entirely around the receptacle in spaced relation to its bottom, a perforated fiatfalse bottom forming a partition on which clothes may rest and conforming in size and shape to the cross ,section of the receptacle above the bead, independently adjustable telescopio legs projecting downwai-olly from the under side of the false bottom, said legs having upper tubular members equal in length to the height of the top ofthe bead above the receptacle bottom whereby the false bottom may rest on the bead and be supported also by said tubular le."T sections, und lower members adapted to be completely housed in the tubular members, und means to secure said l0 lower members in adjusted position.'
In testimony whereof I uflix my signature.
JOSEPH FAZEKAS.
