UNI-TED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES R. JEDLICKA, OF PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA.
SANITARY TOILET-SEAT COVER.
Application filed July 24, l923.,' Serial No. 653,540.
To all, whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES R. J EDLICKA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Palo Alto, in the county of Santa'Cla-ra and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Toilet-' elements so it can be removably fastened to:
the toilet seat to com letely cover thesame. A still further obJect of this invention resides in the provision of a sanitary cover.
for toiletseats formed of such material that it can be dis osed of through the waste pipe of the flush wl after use.
In addition to the foregoing objects, this invention resides in the provislon of -a cover for toilet seats formed of such material that it can be treated with an antiseptic preparation to render it sanitary and, thereby, protect individuals from contamination.
Aside from the aforesaid objects, this invention resides in the provision of a sanitary cover for toilet seats embodying simple means whereby it canbe readily secured to a toilet seat in temporary fixed relation With the above and other objects. in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of elements to be hereinafter more particularly set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out inthe appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application:
Fig. 1 is a p an view of a toilet seat showing the elements of this invention disposed thereon.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof on line H of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view thereof on line 3-3 of Fig. -1.
Fig. 4 is a detail plan view of the sanitary cover removed from the toilet seat.
- 1g. 5 is a similar view thereof showing the sanitary cover as being folded for storage m a convenient container.
Fig. 6 is a detail plan view of a portion of the seat cover showing one of the fastening eyelets.
Fig. 7 is an enlarged detail sectional view on line 7-7 of Fig. 1.
In the present embodiment of this invention, the numeral 5 designates a sanitary toilet seat cover, which is preferably made of tissue paper chemically treated'with an antiseptic preparation.
The aforesald sanitary toilet seat cover is preferably made to conform somewhat to the general configuration of standard toilet seats, one type of which is illustrated at T, and is so proportioned as to readily assume the curvatures of the toilet seat to completely cover that area thereof in close proximity to an individual occupying the same.
Carried by the toilet seat T and-projecting above the surface thereof are fastening elements 6, which are disposed to readily enter 'eylets 7 of the sanitary seat cover to prevent it from sliding on thetoilet seat.
In order to reinforce that area of the sanitary toilet seat cover which is engageable by the fastening elements 6, apertured tabs 8 are secured to the opposite sides of the tissue, the same being so disposed that their aligned apertures (forming the eyelets 7) will readily permit the heads of the fastening elements 6 to puncture that area of the tissue bound by the walls of the apertures so the the present disclosure imparts my present conception of this invention, the right is reserved to resort to such changes as come within the scope of the claim. ,1
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
- A sanitary seat cover comprising a sheet-
