My invention relates tot-an improvedidevice of creasing and shaping garments, particularly trousers and it consists in theI novel t features Y of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.

In a preferred embodiment my improved device consists of a pair of clamping elements adapted to engage the legs of a pair of trousers at the front and rear thereof, respectively, thereby to crease the same, and in addition means is provided for separating said clamping elements relatively thereby to stretch the trousers and remove wrinkles therefrom.

In connection with a device possessing the foregoing` general characteristics, it is my purpose to so form and connect the clamping elements and the separating means therefore that all parts of the entire device will constantly be maintained in assembly whereby loss of any separate part is prevented, and, furthermore, it is also my purpose to pron yvide a unitary device as just mentioned that is capable. of being folded into exceedingly compact form and convenient size for transportation and storage.

In the accompanying drawings that are illustrative of my improved device in a preferred embodiment and wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the different views Figure l is a view in elevation of my improved device showing themanner of its use for creasing and stretching a pair of trousers;

Referring to the drawings in detail, A and B designate, respectively, the front and rear clamping elements of my improved device, each of which comprises a pairl of sections l0 and ll that are relatively hinged- .ly connected as at l2 whereby they are fold- 1923. serial No; ceases;

Connecting the clamping elements A and B is a pair of separators 17 and 18 that are of duplicateconstruction and that extend, respectively, between companion sections l0, l0 and ll, ll of said clamping elements. Each of these separators consists of a pair of arms 19 and 20, the adjacent inner end portions of which are overlapped and provided with a pin and slot connection including a series of recesses into which the pin .is selectively engageable, or they are otherwise suitably connected so that their combined length may be varied and maintained at any desired adjustment. These arms are pivoted at their outer ends respectively to corresponding strips of companion sections, so that not only may they be swung to permit the clamping elements A and B to be moved together as shown in Figure 3, but when they are adjusted to vary their combined length, the said clamping elements also are adjusted toward or away from one another as the case may be either at one or both ends thereby to adapt the device to use with garments of different sizes and styles.

In the use of my device to crease and stretch a pair of trousers, all of the clips le are lirst loosened and all of the strips 18 and 14 initially swung relatively open. The strips of one of the elements A or B are then closed in clamping relation along the crease of the trousers at the front or rear thereof as may be desired and the strips of the remaining element A or B are similarly closed in clamping relation along the other crease of the trousers. The several clips 16 then are swung into operative relation with the strips to secure them relatively closed whereupon desired creases will be formed as is apparent. Next the clamping elements A and B are relatively separated thereby to stretch the trousers, such separation being effected and maintained by the separators 1T and 18 in the kmanner aforeindicated.

Then the device is not in use it may be folded into extremely compact form as shown in Figure L1 of the drawings by first moving the clamping elements together to the position shown in Fig. 3 and subsequent ly folding companion sections 10 and 11 upon one another as permitted by the hinges 12. A clip 21 is pivoted to the free end of one of the sections 1() or 11 and is operable to secure all of the sections in folded relation as indicated clearly in Figure 4.

In connection With my improved device it Will be observed that the clamping elements A and B at all times are connected against accidental loss or relative disassembly by the separators 17 and 18, yet, despite this fact the device as an entirety is foldable into exceedingly compact form for convenience in transporting and storing the same. It Will also be observed that the strips composing one section of one of the clamping elements are siightly curved, thereby to more closely conform to the shape of the hip portions of a pair of trousers.

I claim A garment creasing and stretching device comprising a pair of clamping elements, each clamping` element consisting of a pair of relatively foldable sections, and each section including a pair of strips adapted to clamp a portion of a garment therebetween, means connecting said clamping elementa and a single device carried by one of said sections and operable to secure all of the same together When they are in folded relation.
