IMPROVEMENT IN BALE-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 151,770, dated June 9, 1874; application filed May 21, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. FORD, of
proved Cotton-Bale Tie; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part of this specifieation Figure 1 being a side view of my improved tie-block Fig. 2, a central section of the same; Fig. 3, a View of the tie complete as applied to a cotton-bale band-Wire.
Like letters designate corresponding parts in all of the figures.
My invention consists in a block,A, of castiron or other suitable material, having two perforations, a a, in combination with a bandwire,B,the ends I) b of which are first respectivel y passed through the holes a a of the block, and then coiled or bent one,two, or three times around the adjacent parts of the wire. For the band B I prefer to use galvanizediron wire of suitable size; and the perforated tiebloek A has the holes a a of proper size to freely admit the ends of the wire. The insertion of the wire and fastening of theends are accomplished very easily and rapidly.
The tie is very simple, cheap, and effectual. This tie is applicable to baling hay and other substances, as well as to baling cotton.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The tie-block A, with the two perforations a a, in combination with the band-wire B, substantially as and for the purpose herein specifled.
