Description
H. R. JESKO OIL BURNER Nov. 25 1924- Filed May 31 1924 Patented Nov. 25, 1924.
NlTED STATES HARRY R. JESKO, 0F LAVERNE, OKLAHOMA.
OIL BURNER.
Application filed May 31, 1924. Serial No. 717,097.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY R. JnsKo, acitizen of the United States, residing at Laverne, in the county of Harper and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Oil Burner, of which thefollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in oil burners and has for its principal object to provide a simple and eflicient device which will be inexpensive, strong and durable.
A further object of the invention is to provide an oil burner of the above men tioned character, wherein the oil is adapted to be pro-heated previous to the discharging of the oil to the burner.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of my improved oil burner, and
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken approximately on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
In the drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention. the numeral 1 designates the casing and the same preferably comprises an ordinary heating stove from which the grate and ash pan are removed. Supported in the bottom 2 of the casing 1 is the concrete base 3 and the same is provided with a substantially centrally located opening 4t and the purpose thereof is to provide a means for receiving" and supporting therein the oil burner 5 which is preferably formed of iron and has its upper surface concaved and slightly roughened as clearly illustrated in the drawings.
Extending vertically within the casing and having its upper portion extending through the top 6 of the casing is the draft conduit 7. The lower end of the conduit is disposed. directly above the burner 5 and provided on. the upper end of the draft conduit the damper plate 8 which is pivotally supported thereon and adapted to be actuated for controlling the supply of air to the burner throng-h the pipe 7.
Extending through the vertical draft conduit 7 is an oil delivery pipe 9 and the lower end thereof is adapted to extend through a suitable spider 10 arranged in the lower portion of the conduit 7 and the purpose thereof is to provide a means for centering the oil delivery pipe so that the same will communicate with the oil burner 5. The upper portion of the oil delivery pipe extends above the upper edge of the conduit and it is to be understood that suitable means is provided for enabling the cover or damper plate 8 to be moved on the upper edge of the conduit without interference thereto by the upper portion of the oil delivery pipe 9. A needle valve of any well known construction is arranged in the up per end of the oil pipe 9 and is illustrated at 11 in the drawing. Communicating with the upper portion of the oil delivery pipe 9 is an oil supply pipe 12 which is adapted tobe connected to a suitable oil supply tank (not shown) it being understood of course that the supply tank is disposed at a point above the casing so that the oil therefrom mav by gravity be fed to the delivery pipe 9 through the supply pipe 12.
In use, a piece of paper or the like is placed on the burner 5 and ignited and bv opening the needle valve 11, a supply of oil is delivered through the pipe 9 onto the ignited paper and a flame is thus provided which will continuouslv burn as long as oil is supplied or delivered to the burner. The provision of the conduit 7 and the oil delivery pipe 9 in the manner shown wherein the same are disposed directly above the burner will cause the oil in the pipe 9 to be heated. previous to the delivery of the same to the burner and thus addine to the cliiciency of the operation of the oil burner. As hereinbefore stated, the draft to the burner mav be regulated by the damper plate 8. Furthermore the oil which. is delivered to the burner through the pipe 9 may also be regulated by the actuation of the needle valve 11.
The simplicity of my device enables the same to be manufactured at a very low cost and will further be strong and durable. Furthermore the provision of an oil delivery means of the character above described will prevent any possibility of oil being wasted as the same will be caused to be deposited onto the burner 5.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, What I claim is A device of the class described comprising a casing, an oil burner supported upon the bottom thereof, a cylindrical air conduit depending from the top of the casing and terminating in close spaced proximity above the center of said burner, the upper end of said conduit extending above the top of said casing, a damper mounted upon the upper end of said conduit, an oil delivery pipe of a length substantially equal to said conduit, said oil delivery pipe extending downwardly through the conduit and terminating just above the bottom thereof, a spider mounted in said conduit, the lower end of said oil delivery pipe extending through and being centered by said spider,
and an oil supply pipe connected to the upper end of said delivery pipe.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
HARRY R. JESKO.
