My invention relates to door locks and latches, and consists in providing a new and improved form of clogging mechanismzfor the latch bolt and stop Work by which, when the door is closed and the stop wor; is on, the latch and stop VWork will be positively blocked against repression from the outside, and yet said latch may be retracted bythe proper means, such as aley for entrance from the outside, or by a knob on the inside of the door.` l i ln the aecompanyingl drawings@ Y.

Operation-fille operation is plain from the above description. lhen the stop-'Work is off the inner end of the plunger 3 will stand under the nosev 20, of the clogging lever 17 holding they same in the non-clogging position, at. which Ytime the latch may be freely retracted by either the inner or outer door knob. lhenthe plunger 32L is pushed in, thedogging lever 17 dropsto the operative position, so that, such a time,
the door can be opened by the use of the inside knob, or by a rkey capable of operatingthe roll-back 5. It will be notedthat in effect aloop movement occurs between the rear end of the lever 22, and the end 21 of the clogging lever Whenever the clogging mechanism is on andthey lat-ch is retracted. By this movement the jamming and breakage of parts is avoided.,

In a door lock, a spring latch bolt, a knob-controlled roll-back and a key-controlled roll-back, both operable from the outdoor side ot said lock to retract said latch, fa stop-Work mechanism operable in one position to hold the said knob-controlled roll-back against movement, a clogging cle- Y the latch clogging position to permit the latch to berepressed by strike plate engagement as the door is closing.
