Description
GEORGE E. JENKS, OF CONCORD, NEW' HAMPSHIRE.
IMPROVEMENT' IN SPRAY-NOZZLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l5 L22?, dated May 26, 1874; application led May 2,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE E. JENirs,of Concord, in the county ofhierrimack, State of New Hampshire, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hand-Hose or Fountain Nozzles, of which the following is a description suflieiently full, clear, and exact to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side eleva-tion ot' my improved hose or fountain nozzle, and Fig. 2, a vertical longitudinal section of' the same.
Lilie letters indicate corresponding parts in the different figures ot' the drawin My invention relates to means for converting the stream ot' water into a sheet or into spray 3 and consists in a novel Vcoiistruction and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter vincre-fully set forth and claimed, by which much better results are atta-ined than with the devices of, this character in ordinary use. The cxtreme simplicity of my invention renders an elaborate description unnecessary.
In Fig. l, A is the nozzle; C, thelbuttonsupport; and B, the button or spray-formen The support C is interiorly disposed in the nozzle A, as shown in Fig. 2, being attached to the inside of the same in such a manner that the stream'of wat-er which is divided by the lower portion of the support unites before it passes from the aperture of the nozzle, the support being in the center of the stream, thus producing a continuous sheet of water as the stream impinges against the under side of the button. This button is concavo-convex in form, being screwed upon the support C in such a manner as to be adjustable vertically, and may be changed or reversed to bring either side uppermost, or in accordance with the forni ot' the sheet of water itis desired to produce. l
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The nozzle A, support C, and adjustable button Il, constructed and arranged to operate as and for the purpose specified.
GEORGE E. J ENKS.
