My present invention relates generallyto calendars and more particularly to that type of calendar employing a movable indicato-r, my object being the provision of a neat, effective and compact device capable of use in the home and also adapted to be carried in the pocket, and a further object is the provision of a calendar of the movable indicator type which is capable of ready manipulation and necessitates but little instruction for its effective use.

A still further object of my invention is the provision of a calendar of the above type by means of which dates over a period of two years may be readily ascertained, which vmay be cheaply constructed and especially adapted for advertising purposes.

In the accompanying drawing which illustrates my present invention and forms a art of this specification,

Referring now to these figures my invent-ion proposes a calendar including an elongated rectangular holder 10 having longitudinally along its opposite side edges lists of week days imprinted thereon as indicated at 11 and 12, the several week day indications being preferably abbreviated as shown and disposed in the lists transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the holder so as to be conveniently read when the holder is supported with its longitudinal axis upright.

It will also be noted that the holder is of such length as to provide considerable spaces 13 and 14 at the upper and lower ends of its lists of week day indications 11 and 12, of which the upper space 13 may be utilized for the imprinting of directions for the use of the calendar and the lower space 14 may be utilized to receive suitable advertisements, a holder of considerable length being required as hereinafter made plain where, as in the present instance, folding:

is contemplated in order that the calendar as a whole may be carried in the pocket.

The imprinting of the two lists of week days indicated at 11'and 12 leaves a central space 15 along the upper portion of whichy a tongue 16 freely depends between the lists 11 and 12, this tongue being securely connected at its upper end to the upper end of the holder 10 by means, preferably in the nature of a grommet or eyelet 17 whichy thus vadapts the calendar as a whole to be fixed by a nail, tack, screw or other fastening member upon a wall or other supporting surface. Along the tongue at spacedy points are transversely arranged the imprinted designations of the several months of the year as indicated at 18, some of which are repeated as in the case of the week day lists 11 and 12, for obvious purposes, this tongue forming a guide for the sliding indicator 19 whose Lipper body portion has lengthwise spaced vertical slots 20 through which the tongue 16 is passed so `asto expose a portion of thetongue 16 between the slots 20.

The sliding indicator 19 has transverse indicating lines 21 in the same plane upon opposite sides of the exposed portion of the tongue 16 and thus between the planes of the slots 20 and the sliding indicator is further provided with a depending tongue 22 having a lengthwise series of divisions separated by spacing lines 23each division having a yseries of numerals 24 constituting indications of the days of the months, there beingy seven divisions on the tongue 22, each starting with a different numeral from one to seven inclusive and it will be noted that each. division has numerals increasing by seven between its starting numeral and the numeral thirty-one.

Thus by shifting the sliding indicator 10 up or down on the tongue 16 until its indicating lines 21 register with the month in which the desired week day or monthly date occurs, 'the tongue 22 of the sliding indicator will cooperate with the lists 11 and 12 so that either the day of the week or the date of the month may be readily determined, it being observed that reference is made to 'the numerical divisions ofthe tongue A22 and the left' hand week day list 11 of the holder in one year whilereference is made to the numerical divisions ofthe tongue 22 and the right hand list 12 for the next succeeding year. f

It is obvious from this that the calendar is thus adapted for atwo year period, the yearly designations being preferably imprinted as at 2.5l and 26 upon the lowerpo'rtion of the bodyv of the sliding indicator 19 respectively above the week day lists 11 and 12 of the holder. t i

1t.;is also obvious from an inspection of Figure 1 that the tongue 22 of the sliding indicator overlies that'portion of the tongue 16 of the holder extending below the body of the indicator and that by providing the lower end of the tongue 16 with a suitable stop member as for instance a grommet or eyelet 2,7, the slide will be prevented lfrom complete withdrawal vor accidental displacement from' the tongue 16. y

It will also `be observed that by sliding the indicator 19 upwardly to the upper limit of its 'movement on the tongue 16, provision is made for holding the holder 10 lengthwise as indicated in dotted lines in Figure 2 and for the purpose of securing the holder when so folded in order that it maybe readily adapted toV pocket use, the lower end of the i holder` 10 has secured thereto a central end-` wise `projecting tab 28 which may in the folded position of the holder be extended varound the upper end thereof so that the free end of the ltab may be projected through a transverse slot 29 with which the holder is provided adjacent to its upper end, the tab when extended through this slot 29 thus serving to detachably hold the calendar in lfoldedl position for carrying in the pocket. 'It is obvious that when so carried the folded portions of the holder 10 serve to protect the" slide with its tonguev `as well as the tongue 156. l

` The calendar as illustrated is for the years 19244 and 1925 but obviously it can be made for any two, or possibly more years by the proper working vout and arrangement of the printing` matter pertaining to dates, days yof each week etc. l

The name or other identifying matter cioncerning the person of the user may be placed o-n the holder beneath the tongues, if desired. a

I claim:

1. A calendar of the present type including a holder `having im rinted upon its surface designations of the week days arranged in a series and also having al tongue fixedv at one end to the holder and extending freely .along the said weekday designations, the

said tongue being provided with a list of the months, and a slide associated Awith the said tongue, through which ya portion of the tongue is exposed whereby the slide may be be folded upon itself yand having vmeans to detachably support the same in folded position', said holder having upon itsface a lon-` gitudinally arranged list of weekday designations, a tongue connected to the holder and extending along the said series o f week day designations, having thereon lengthwise spaced designations of the months, and a slide movably associated with said tongue and through which a portion ofthe tongue is exposed to permit lthe slide'v to be ino-ved opposite a selected month designation of the tongue, said slidehaving a reduced ex. l tending tongue overlying the tongue of the holder and provided with a seriesof visions, each division having aseries of ntab designations to cooperate with" the day designations of the holder, saidslide being of a relative length to be folded as described.
