' IMPROVEMENT IN DISH-WASHERS.
Specication forming-part of Letters Patent No. 150,772., dated May 12, 1874; application filed January 5, 1874.
To dl/whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN M. MGKESSON, of Lincoln, in the county of Lancaster and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Dish-Washer, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will rst be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure lis a sectional elevation of my improved dish-washing machine. Fig. 2 is a plan view, and Fig. 3 is a section of a pan.
A is the water-holding vessel or boiler, which has a cover, B, and stand C ,for a lever, D, which, at the end of its short arm, is pivoted to the rod E of the basket or crib F. The lever D is, in this example, connected to the rod by a block, G, having a hole through which the rod passes, and a slotted key-wrench, H, and locking-spring I, the slot of the keywrench being somewhat narrower than the rod, the rod being notched in the sides to al- Y low the key-wrench t0 slide onto it, and the spring having a notch which engages the rod l when the wrench is slipped on, and holds the wrench from slipping oif. Any other equiva lent mode of connecting the lever and rod may be employed. The key-wrench holds the rod so that the lever will lift the basket and' let it fall; and it also serves for turning the basket forward and backward, at the same time the lever is worked, to increase the action of the water. When the dishes have beensufciently washed, the cover and lever are taken off and the key-wrench is again applied, and is used for a handle for lifting the basket out of the washing-vessel A.
Having thus described my invention, I clailn as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A I The bifurcated key H, provided with lockspring I, in combination with the basket-rod E, as and for the purpose set forth.
