My invention -.was devised more particutlarlyforiuse in controlling theposition oo Aoupied by a easement window, though it will b-e understood from the following description that it may kbe applied to use in con- .nection with any` movably-supported member of such character as tobe controlled thereby.
One of my Ob-jects-isto provide a novel, *simple and inexpensive construction of mechanism` whereby the movable member to be controlled thereby may be quickly actu- `ait-edito `vtheldesired position. Another obyject is to provide for vthe holding of the member in the position to whichiitis actin atedwand, in the case of a easement window `or the like, to positively hold'Y it in bothy open and closed positions; another object is to i lprovide for the quick movement of the inember and preferably the holding of the member inf adjusted position and, in the case of y a easement window, holding it in closed poy sition; and other objects aswill be manifest from the following description.
Inasmuch 4as l have` devised my invention for use more vparticularly in connection with easement windows, I have chosen to illustrate it as applied t-o suoli use yin the accompanying drawing, thoughnot with the' `intension of limiting ,the invention thereto.

It has been above suggested that the connection of the rod 15 with the bearing mem- 80 ber 9 through the sleeve 16, permits of the adjustment of the rod 15 in this bearing member; It will be understood in this connection that by reason of the proportioning of the parts of the window frame or other condition presented, it may be desirable to position the bearing member at a greater distance from the window than as shown in `from the window than as shown, the rod 15 would be adjusted lengthwise in the bearing member 9 to a position in which the open`' ing 18 would register with the opening in the rod 15 for receiving the screw 17 and 95 the sleevesecured in thispos'ition. Any desirable `number of the adjustments referred to may be provided. lhile I have illustrated and described a particular construction embodying my invention, I do not wish to be understood as intending to limit it thereto as the same may be variously modified and altered without departing from the spirit of my invention.
IVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure b yA Letters Patent, is: 1. In a device of the class described, in combination, a frame having a stop member, a closure pivotally mounted on said frame and impinging against said stop member, a rod having a spiral groove of varying pitch, a sleeve, one of said last named elements pivotally mounted on said frame and the second thereof pivotally connected to said closure, a stud rigidly carried by said sleeve and engaging said groove, the portion of the groove of least pitch coacting with said stud when the closure engages said stop member whereby to cause iirm engagement thereof, means to cause relative rotation between said 12o `rod and sleeve, and releasable locking means ing axial movement and permitting rotation of said member and means for pivotally attaching the other member to a hinged closure. l
3. In a device of the class described, in combination, a threaded member, a tubular member having means to coact With the thread of the first named member, a turret, means to mountsaid turret for free rotation,
one of said members passing through the Walls of said turret, means Within the turret and secured to said member preventing axial movement and permitting rotation of said member, means to lock said rotatable member to prevent rotation thereof, and means for pivotaily attaching the other member to a hinged closure.
