E. WILLIAMS BOBBIN HOLDER Fil ed Dec. 11 1922 ATTORNEY Patented Aug. 5, 1924.
PATENT OFFIQE.
EMMA WILLIAMS, 0F GREENCAS'ILE, INDIANA.
BOBBIN HOLDER.
Application filed December 11, 1922. Serial No. 606,150.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMMA WILLIAMS, a citizen of the Unlted States, residing in the city have of Greencastle and State of Indiana, invented new and useful Improvements in Bobbin Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention is a bobbin holder for use upon sewing machines, and the object is to provide in a simple and practical form an auxiliary device for holding a bobbin of thread in operative position for use on a sewing machine.
sewing machine work, it frequently has been wound onto bobbins.
It then becomes necessary to wind some of the thread from a bobbin back onto a spool for position on the spool spindle. This is a tedious process as well as causing delay and loss of time ; and this delay and loss of time may be obviated by the use of this device.
the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device Fi Fi slot.
in use on a sewing machine. gure 2 1s a top view of the device. gure 3 1s a side view showing the thread The invention may be shaped from one piece of sheet metal bent to form a spindle sleeve 1 adapted to pass down over the spool spindle 2 of the machine 3; and a bobbin tube 4 adapted to freely receive a bobbin 5, a thread slot 6 being left open through the wall of the bobbin tube from end to end, to allow the thread 7 to run oil from the bobbin to the needle in usual manner.
In use a bobbin of thread is placed within the tube 4 and the thread is led therefrom through the slot 6 to the needle.
While I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood same may be varied in minor de tails, not departing from the spirit of my invention as defined in the appended claim.
I claim:
A bobbin holder for sewing machines, the same being formed of a single piece of sheet metal and embodying a sleeve for engaging the spool spindle of the machine; and a split bobbin tube integrally connected to the spindle sleeve, the parting of the bobbin tube being open to allow of the passage of the thread.
EMMA XVILLIAMS. Witnesses:
