UNITED STATES OTTO AJF-K, OF VIENNA, AUSTRIA.
LUBRICATING PUMP 71TH ,STGJT FEED.
Application filed May a,
T0 a-ZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, O'r'ro I-IAJEK, a citizen of the Republic of Austria, and residing at Vienna, Austria, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lubricating Pumps with Sight Feed, of which the following is a specification,
This invention relates to a lubricating pump in which a sight feed glass is inserted in the suction lead and consists in arrangements by which the air-tight connection of the sight feed glass with the suction lead is effected in a simpler manner than in known constructions.
For this purpose the portion of the suction lead conducting from the oil container to the inspection glass is displaceable parallel to the axis of the inspection glass and contains a U-shaped duct leading from the oil container to the inspection glass, which can be pressed down on the latter by means of a screw. Thereby the inspection glass is pressed between the movable and fixed portion of the lead so as to be fluid tight.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example in Fig. 1 a section through a,
modification of a lubricating pump provided with the device according to the invention; Fig. 2 shows another modification of the device.
1 denotes the oil container 2 the lubricating pump, which in the modification shown is arranged in the oil container, but can also be arranged externally, 3 designates a device for reciprocating the piston, which consists in this modification of an excentric connected to said piston. The member by means of which the oil from the oil container is delivered to the piston cylinder of the pump, consists of a portion tightly connected to the piston cylinder containing a duct 4, one end of which leads into the piston cylinder, while the other end leads to a tubular sight feed glass 5. The second portion of the suction lead is movable parallel to the axis of the sight feed glass and discharges with one end into the oil container, with the other end into the upper edge of the tubular sight feed glass. The two edges 8 and 9 of the glass are covered with a packing, preferably with rings of leather or cork, which are simultaneously pressed together by the screw 7. In the modification according to Figure 2 pressure is exerted on the edges of the glass by a screw 7 through a curved member 10 in order to avoid the side pressure in the cylindrical guide of the part 6.
What I claim is 1; A lubricating pump comprising an oil container, a sight feed glass and a suction lead, said suction lead consisting of a fixed part discharging with one end to the cylin der of the lubricating pump and with the other end to the sight feed glass, a movable part discharging with one open end into the oil container and with the other end to the Serial no. 558,234.
sight feed glass, and means for pressing the movable part against the fixed part and at the same time down on the sight feed glass 2. A lubricating pump including an oil container and a pump cylinder therein, a sight feed glass, a suction lead including a stationary part carried with the wall and the bottom of the container and in connection with the pump cylinder at the lower end, the sight feed glass being arranged in communication with the other end of the lead, a movable part provided with a duct disposed on the upper part of the container having one portion arranged in connection with the container and the other portion connected with the sight feed glass, and means for pressing the movable part down on the sight feed glass.
3, A lubricating pump including an oil container, a pump including cylinder mounted in the bottom of the container, a sight feed glass, a suction lead composed of two parts, one of which is carried by the wall and bottom of the container and communicates with the cylinder the upper portion communicating with the sight feed glass and a movable parthaving a duct and arranged through the top of the container having one end portion communicating with the container and the other end portion engaging and communicating with the sight feed glass, and a screw engaging the movable part for pressing the same down on the sight feed glass so as to clamp the glass between the movable and stationary parts in addition to securing the movable part to the container.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
OTTO HAJEK.
