Specification forming part vof Lettere Patent Noi 150,000, dated April 21, 1874; application tiled December 10, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN D. DALE, of Elmira, in the county of Ohemung and State ot' New York, have invented an Improvement in a Cigar Mouth-Piece or Holder, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to cigar mouth-pieces or holders made of a material that will be elastic and pliable.
Figure 1 is a view showing mouth-piece or holder on a cigar. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same detached. Fig. 3 is a section of mouth-piece.
I forni a mouthpiece or holder of the usual shape, of a material that will be elastic, such as india-rubber, with a ring or series of rings, arranged as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, either endless spiral or roughened inside surface, which is intended to hold the cigar` from getting out.
The advantages are, that it will t any cigar, and hold it secure. Made of indiarubber, it is sweeter, and will not retain the rank smellthat is usual to the ordinary holder, it is pleasant to the mouth, and can be turned inside out for cleaning; it being pliable and soft prevents it from injuring the teeth, which is of great importance to thel cigar consumer.
I claim- As an article of manufacture, a cigar mouth piece or holder held open at its narrow end by its annular form and expansibility, the whole constructed of elastic or yielding ma teria-l, with the internal projections or corru gations, whereby to impinge and securely hold the cigar, substantially as herein set forth.
