Be it known that I, HENRY lv. RENNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Collapsible Cup; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a collapsible cup and the general aim is to providel a construction primarily adapted for individual use to promote sanitation.

Another object is to provide a collapsible cup or receptacle having a nozzle frame tensioned tourge the cup into an expanded position, and one which may be made from a single strand of wire and include a spring coil, and arms having the terminals thereof formedV into handles and a means to fasten the handles against separation.

Another object is to provide an article of this kind adapted to lit a container and in connection with which said handles cooperate to facilitate insertion and removal of the cup from the container.

Additional objects and advantages become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawingsillustrating one practical embodiment.

Figure 3 is a side elevation of the cup in a collapsed condition; and

Figure 4 is a bottom or inverted plan view of the cup.

Like reference numerals designate like or similar parts throughout the views of the drawings.

In reducing the invention to practice, an imperforate, hollow inverted, substantially conical body is provided at 5 serving as a receptacle to containwater or other liquid. This body may be made of any suitable material for instance waterproof fabric.

Associated with the body 5 is a frame to hold it expanded. Such frame `may be made of any suitable material but preferand forms into a hook ll'adapted. to engage the opposite arm, namely arm .7 in order to hold the arms 6 and 7 and the body v5 in collapsed or folded condition.

A suitable container or receptacle is pro'v vided which may consist of a body section 12 and a closure section 13 adapted to slide on to the upper or free end thereof to frictionally engage the same. The application of the cover or closure 13 is limited by a bead at 14. Said cup in the collapsed condition referred to is adapted to be inserted within the section 12 and the handles 9 project above the upper end of said section 12 as shown in Figure 1, so as to facilitate engagement of the fingers therewith to remove the cup for use.

The article may be normally carried on the person of the user or owner, for instance in the pocket, and at this end it may have a fastening clasp orclip as illustrated at 15 to clamp a portion of the pocket between it and the receptacle 12 to prevent loss thereof.

Whenthe cup is to be used, closure 13 is removed lafter which the handles 9 are grasped and lifted in order to removeY the cup from the container. Thereafter the hook 11 is detached from the armf and the spring 8 urges separation of the arms 6 and 7 at the handle end which will expand the body 5 into the position shown in Figure 2 in which it may be used as a cup for general purposes, particularly drinking.

As illustrated at 16, a suitable ornamental design or advertisement may be delineated upon the body 5.

As merely one practical embodiment has been illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes within the details and principles may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope Aas defined in the appended claim.
