IMPROVEMENT IN SEESAWS.

" following is a specification, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawings, where- Figure 1 is a side view of a seesaw embodying my said improvements. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Fig. 3 is aview of the same in cross-section on the plane denoted by the dotted line x x, looking in the direction indicated by the arrow.
The invention is an apparatus wherebythe lever or teeter can be adjusted longitudinally so as to balance persons of diiferent weights, and having seats so pivoted-to the ends of the lever as to remain level during the oscillations of the lever. 4
The letter a indicates a supporting-post firmly set on its base, on the top of which is fastened, as by screw a', a socketpiece, b, having a horizontal base and two side up- This. socket-piece is, by preference, of cast metal. In the tops of the two side uprights are sockets or bearings l1. The letter c indicates a mortised block, preferably of east metal, having two trunnions, c', on the sides, tting into the bearings or sockets b. Through the mortised block c is inserted the lever cl, there being a screw, e, running through the top of the mortised block and bearing on the lever, whereby the lever is secured in place in the mortised swing-block c. The lever can be adjusted longitudinally in the swing-block c, and thus made to balance for two persons of different weights. To each end of the lever is pivoted a seat, j', depending by an arm, f1, swinging on the pin or screw f 2, driven through into the lever, the ends of which are shod with metal bands d.
I have shown the seats f as being dat. I claim as my inventionl. The combination of the socket-piece b, having bearings b', the swing-block c, having trunnions c', the screw c, and the lever d, all constructed, arranged, and designed to operate substantially as described.
2. The combination of the tilting lever d with the seats f, depending from and pivoted to opposite sides of the lever, substantially as described.
