EXPLQSIVE USING- LIQUID OXYGEN.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUILLAUMB WEBER, citizen of the French Republic, residing at Hayange, 'Moselle, in the Republic of France, have invented new and useful Im provements in Explosives Using Liquid Oxygen, of which the following is a specifica- -tion.
' It is already known to use an explosive based upon liquid air, consisting of a cartridge containing a combustible substance,
liquid air and a small cartridge or bag filled with aluminium powder and wherein the detonator is also disposed.
The presence ofthe detonator in the (rartridge has great drawbacks. By a shock or by pushing, one can produce the explosion of the detonator even before the impregnation of the cartridge with liquid air. After its saturation with liquid air or oxygen, a
shock or a spark may sufiice to cause the exlosion of the cartridge. Again, the manuacture of such a cartridge is more com plex and expensive.
According to the invention; and in order to'obviate thesedrawbacks, one eliminates the detona'tor from the small cartridge or bag which contains the aluminium powder or any other metal-powder or still a mixture of several combustible powders, and after the cartridge has been impregnated with Application filed January 4, 1923. Serial No. 610,703.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Lettors Patent is: a
1. An explosive cart-ridge comprising an' envelope, a combustible absorbent substance in said enevelope adapted to be impregnated with liquid oxygen, a metallic powder and a small cartridge or bag inside said envelope containing said metallic powder and containing/no detonator.
'2. An explosive cartridge comprising an envelope combustible absorbent substances in said envelope adapted to be impregnated with liquid oxygen, metallic powders, and i a small cartridge or bag inside said envelope containing said metallic powders and containing no detonator;
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
