IMPROVEMENT IN COLLARS FOR LAMP-RESERVOIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,632, dated April 14, 1874; application filed May 20,1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I7 LEWIS J. ATWOOD, of Waterbury7 in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have inventedfan Iinprovement in Collars for Lamp-Reservoirs, of which the following is a specification: v
My invention consists in a collar for lampreservoirs made of thin sheet metal, with a sheet-metal cylinder applied within the saine, to conne the plaster with which the collar is attached tothe lamp closely around the neck of the reservoir.
In the drawing I have represented by a section the invention as applied to a lamp.
The collar a is of a size sufficient to t out side the neck of the glass lamp7 and be secured thereto by plaster-of-paris or other cement7 and around this is an embossed llange, b, that rests upon the surface of the glass reservoir and forms a neat and handsome finish to that part of the lamp. d is the ring;7 in which the screw-thread ofthe burner is forlned,
and this ring' may be secured to the collar a in any convenient manner, and is generally of thicker material than the collar a and ornamental ilange b. Vithin the collar a is the cylinder f, which contines the plaster around `the metal.
I claim as my invention- The metallic cylinder f, attached within the sheet-metal collar of a lamp-reservoir7 as and for the purposes set forth.
