To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JAMES ODONNELL and PETER FRASER MoLEoD, subjects of King George V of Great Britain, residing, respectively, at Manchester, England, and Glasgow,
According to the invention two members or cages, each divided into two chambers or compartments, are secured face to face with a rotary disc or valve mounted between them and making good joints with the adj acent faces of the respective cages;
The chambers of one cage are respectively in communication with an oil supply tank and with a steam supply from a suitable generator, and the chambers of the othercage communicate respectively with an oil pipe and witha steam'pipe leading to the burner or burners.-
In the inner' wall of the oil reception chamber adjacent to the rotary valve are two suitably disposed'openi'ngs of appropriate sizes to admitof the passage of a main oil supply and of a'pilot oil supply, Whilst the'inner wall of'the oil delivery chamber, which is opposedto the oil reception'chamber, has two similar openings inalignment with those previously named.
Similarly the steam reception chamber has two suitably disposed openings of vappropriate sizes to admit of the passage of a main steam supply and of a pilot steam supply,
. and the steam delivery chamber has two similar openings in alignment with those in the reception chamber.
The'centres of all the openings are disposed at an equal distance radially from the centre line of the cages, and the rotary valve or disc has a series of suitably disposed passages which by appropriate manipulation of the valve can be either moved from opposite the chamber openings to shut off the oil and steam supplies, or can open up the main oil 'pipe leading to theburner; s

Nuts 6, c on the screwed ends of the spindle enable the cages or members to be tightened up against the faces of the rotary valve disc, and packing rings f, f of suitable material and h embedded in grooves, in the valve disc and in the cages or members respectively, serve to make the joints good and prevent leakage.

V The valve or'disc 0 has a series of openings 0, 0 0 0*," corresponding respectively to the main oil, pilot oil, main steam, and pilot steam openings in the cages, and these openings in the valve'are so disposed that when the'valve occupies the position shewn in Flg. 1 communication between the reception and delivery chambers is cutoff; when the valve is rotated to the position indicated by the dotted line position B of the operating handle 0x, the openings 0 and 0 are presented opposite the openings h, h and 6,71 respectively to open up the pilot oil and pilot steam communications between the reception and delivery cages and when the valve is further rotated to the position B, the openings 0 and 0 are presented opposite the openings 9, g and j, j respectively to open up the main oil and steam communications between the reception and delivery cages. It will be apparent that in moving to position 13 to openup thepilot oil and steam supply, the valve shuts off themain oiland steam supply.
I Suitable means are provided to enable the valve .to be held in either of the positions refer-redto, or in intermediate positions in wh'icl'i'themain oil and steam supplies or the pilot oil and steam supplies will'be only partially opened up. A convenient method .of making such provision is to provide a fixed quadrant or segment 7:;
having a finely toothed or serrated surface 70'' adapted to be engaged by "a-Qsuitable spring actuated member Z carried by the operating handle 000 of the valve. It will be obvious, however, that other equivalent means may be adopted or devised for adjustablyholding the valve in desired position.

The device is very compact; the oil in passing through chambers at and b is V heated by contact with the steam chambers a and b the blow-back pipe menables all obstructionsin the oil supply chambers or deliverypipesto be cleared away; and
the arrangement of themain and pilot oil and steam s'uppliesin combination with cheffine adjustment device enables the correct I supplies of oil and steam to maintain the desired temperature without fluctuation to be provided.
