Description

Ami? Y CLIP Filed Aug.
ATTORNEY VVITNESSES etented Apr. Z2, 1924.
KARL PRO'BST, 0F JAMAICA, NEW YORK.
CLIP.
Application led August 27, 1923. Serial No. 659,680.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, KARL PROBST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jamaica, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a clip for holding tags and the like to merchandise, the
lo general object of the invention being to provide the clip with gripping jaws which are adapted to be pressed into engagement with the merchandise so that the clip will be firmly attached to the merchandise, with means on the clip for holding the tag.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, il-
lustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view showing the device in use.
Figure 2 is an edge view with the jaws open.
Figure 3 is a perspective view with the jaws closed.
As shown in these views, the clip is made of a strip 1, of suitable material, which is bent to form the U-shaped part 2 having the arms thereof bent outwardly upon themselves to provide the j aw parts 3, the extremities of the jaw parts being bent at right angles, as shown at 4:, with teeth 5 formed therein. By pressing the jaw parts 3 towards each other, the toothed parts 4 will be caused to grip the merchandise so that the device is firmly attached thereto. The loop 2 will receive a string which is attached to a tag or a part of the tag itself.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A clip of the character described comprising a strip bent in U-shaped formation having the arms thereof bent oppositely upon themselves midway their ends to provide jaw parts, right angled bent portions formed on the jaw parts and teeth provided on the right angled bent portion for cooper ative association with each other for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature` KARL PRoBs'r.
