IMPROVEMENT IN HOOK ATTACHMENTS TO BANDS OF FIRE-ARMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 149,141, dated March 31, 1874; application tiled March 2, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY METOALFE, of the United States Army, have invented an Improved Swivel for Stacking and Carrying Arms, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists in making a swivel hook or loop, which is made by bending one end of a small rod or wire into the shape of a hook, and then passing the straight end through a hole in the lug of a guard, band, or loop-plate until it projects a sufficient distance, and then bending it around to nearly or entirely meet the other curved end of said rod.
It may be kept from moving endwise in the lug by means of a transverse pin lying in a circumferential groove of the swivel, as shown in the drawing at O. This forms a convenient attachment to a gun for stacking arms or carrying them with a gun-sling, as these swivelhooks can be hooked into one another, so as to form a stack.
If a gun-sling is used, then the gun-sling swivel may be on the band, and the hookswivel also, as shown in the drawing, where A represents the hook-swivel, and B the gunsling swivel.
I claim as my invention- A stacking-swivel and gun-sling, made as shown and described.
