IMPROVEMENT IN BUCKLES.`
Specification for'rning part of Letters Patent No. 142,076, dated August 26, 1873 application filed March 10, 1873.
the bow constitute collars upon the ends of` the chord for centralizin g and supporting the tongues, the tongues being the ends of the wire which forms the loop, and being wound around the chord so that the bights bear respectivelyagainst the inner surface of the collars aforesaid.
The drawings are as follows, viz: Figure l is a face view of a buckle embodying my invention; Fig.'2, a transverse sectional view of the same; Fig. 3, a face View of the loop and tongues detached 5 and Fig. 4, an end view of the same.
The bow of the buckle A is of any suitable shape, preferably that shown in the drawings, with its ends perforated or bent around so as to form sockets, which closly embracethe ends of' the chord or axis B. The ends of the chord are upset, so as to rigidly secure it to the bow.
Vloop-wire are pointed, and they constitute the tongues D D of the buckle. The tongues are wound spirally, in opposite directions, once around the chord, and their lengths are grad uated so that they reach up to and bear upon the exterior of the bow.
It will be seen that the sockets or ends of the bow A not only grasp the chord B, but serve as lateral guides or collars, which prevent the tongues from slidin g upon their axes.
I claim as my inventionl. The bow A, rigidly secured to the chord B, forming with it collars or bearings, as and for the purpose described.
2. The combination of the bow A and the chord B with the loop and tongue wire C D D, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
