IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE LIFTING APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. lll, dated March 24, 1874; application file-d February 2, 1874.
CASE B.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, LEWIS L. WHITLOOK, ot Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvement-s in Portable Lifting Apv paratus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings which form part of this specitication.
My invention relates to an improvement in portable lifting apparatus, and consists in a combination of truck, horse-power, and lifting mechanism, as will hereinafter appear.
In the drawing is shown a side elevation of my invention.
A is any suitable truck, to one end of which is hinged the horse-power B, whose angle of elevation is made adjust-able by the screw B', or any equivalent device. Upon the other endl of the truck A is fixed any desired lifting` device, O, to which motion is given by the horse-power B. D is a crane, brace, or any suitable equivalent, through or over which passes thclifting-line E, to which is attached the Weight F to be lifted.
If desired, I vcan so provide to drop the weight F, that it shall act as a post-driver.
I claim as my invention- In combination with a truck, A, bearing a lifting` device, substantially as described, the adjustable horse-power B, situated also upon the truck A, and connected with the lifting` device by driving-gear, all arranged and operating substantially as described.
