IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 148,604, dated March 17, 1:574; application filed February CASE B.
'lo all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, WVILLIAM T. FRY, of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Sash-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide for a sashfastener having a guard, which will prevent access to the room from the outside, and which also forms a frame for the spring-catch of the sash-fastener, in combination with said spring-catch provided with a projection in order to move the same by the hand. Said spring-catch fits into a ratchet-bar placed on the side of a window-sash, where'the same slides into the frame.
In order to prevent persons from the outside from inserting an instrument between the sashand the frame, and thus be enabled to force the spring-catch from the ratchet-bar, the guard, also forming the frame for the spring-catch, is placed outside the spring, slidin g in a groove cut into the sash.
In order to more fully describe my invention, I refer to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
Figure I is an inside view of awindow frame and sash with a part removed embodying my invention. Fig. II is a detached front view of the spring-catch. Fig. III is a detached front view of the ratchet-bar.

I am aware that a spring-catch and ratchetbar is used as a sash-fastener, and I do not claim this to be my invention.
What I desire to claim is The guard F, bent up from the face-plate, where it forms a frame for the spring-catch (J, and the groove G, in combination with the ratchet-bar E, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
