IMPROVEMENT IN CHECK-REIN HOOKS FOR HARNESS-PADS..
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No. 148,499, dated March 10, 1574; application tiled February 17, 1874.
CASE A.
To all whom 'it may concern:
` Be it known that I, CYnUs W. SALADEE, of Pittsburg, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented acertain Improvement in Rein-Hooks for Harness-Pads, of which the following is a spccication embodying my invention The. nature oi' my invention consists in combining with a harness-pad a spring rein-hook actuated by a single curved spring; and has for its object the prevention of the check-rein from becoming unhoolied while the horse is in motion.
The drawing is a perspective view of the complete device.
Ais the ordinary gi g-pad; B, the main standard, C, the hook, and D the spring actuating` the hook O. The hook C is pivoted to the top of the standard B. The rear end of the hook rests upon the saddle of the pad A, in which position it is held by the spring D, the upperA end of the latter being hinged to the front end of the hook C, and the lower end of the spring hooked, while, at the same time, the elasticv action of the spring will admit of readily placing and removing the checbrcin in or out oi' the hook at will.
I claim- The lever-hook C, pivoted within the slotted standard B, in combination with spring D, secured to the seat, and operating snbstantiall y shown and described.
