' cream or heated articles.
The main object of. my invention is to provide an improved package embodying these advantages which is quickly and easily assembled and disassembled.
A further object is to provide an improved package of the class described which is comparatively simple and economical in structure.
Objects pertaining to details and economies of invention will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of the invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which:
Fig. I is avertical central section on a line corresponding to line 11 of Fig. II, the handle being shown in full lines.
Fig. II is a vertical central section on a line corresponding to line 22 of Fig. I.
Fig. III is a plan view of one of the receptacle blanks of the embodiment of my invention illustrated in Figs. I and II.
Fig. IV is a vertical section, on a line corresponding to line 4-4; of Fig. V, of a modified form of my invention.
Fig. V is a vertical section on a line corresponding to line 5-5 of Fig. IV.
In the drawing the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines and similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, provide a plurality of receptacles as 1, 2, and 3 disposed one within the other; the inner receptaclel being adaptedto-receive theconten-ts or thematerial to be packaged suchas ice cream, or some material which it is desired to keep at a low temperature, or, on the other hand, it may be used for material whiclr it is desired to maintain-at a" high temperature. 1
In the embodiment illustrated the receptacles are formed of blanks-shown in Fig;
III and comprising a bottom wall 4, side walls 5, 5 and'fi, 6. The side walls 5 are provided with flanges 7 which overlap and are secured to the walls 6 when the blank is set up. The closure 8 is provided with anend flap 9 and side flaps 10 which areadapted to fold down within the receptacle, the closure flap 8 being of a dimension cor.- responding to that of the receptacle. The retaining flap 11 folds over-."the flap/8 and is provided with a tongue-12 adapted to:
be engaged with the slit 133E011 retain-ingthe flaps in closed position. i
y The walls 6 are provided with hanger extensions-=14 which are adapted to support the receptacles one with-in" the other in.
spaced relation as shown in the drawing.
The enclosing receptacles have shoulders 15 within the fiaps adapted to receive the supporting plate 16. This supporting plate has a holder strip 17 secured on the under side thereof so that the hanger flap 14 may be tucked between the holder and the plate and the plate suspending the closed receptacle within an enclosing receptacle, which is, in turn, closed and its hangers engaged with a supporting plate or member, the plate being then engaged with the shoulder of another enclosing receptacle, and so on, the structure illustrated, however, having only two enclosing receptacles.
With this arrangement of parts the receptacles are suspended one within the other in spaced relation providing surrounding air chambers.
In the modification shown in Figs. IV and V, the strap-like hangers 18 are secured to the sides of the receptacles to be suspended, the closure flaps 19 of these receptacles being of a well-known form of interlapping flap formed on the edges of the walls. The supporting members 16 are substantially the same as those previously described. The outer receptacle may be provided with a handle as 20.
With the parts thus arranged, I provide a package which is very efficient in maintaining articles such as ice cream or other materials at a low temperature, or it may be used for the packaging of hot materials. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain other embodiments or adaptations of my improvements as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relates to embody or adapt the same as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is;
1. A package comprising a plurality of receptacles disposed one within another, the inner receptacle being adapted to receive the material to be packaged, the receptacles each being provided with coacting cover flaps on one pair of opposed walls thereof and the enclosed receptacles with upwardly projecting hanger extensions on their other opposed walls, the enclosing receptacles beig shouldered within said closure flaps, and supporting plates resting upon said shoulders and having holders on their under sides with which said hanger extensions may be engaged.
2. A package comprising a plurality of receptacles disposed one within another, the inner receptacle being adapted to receive the material to be packaged, the receptacles each being provided with closure flaps and the enclosed receptacles with upwardly projecting hangers, the enclosing receptacles being shouldered within said closure flaps, and
supports resting upon said shoulders and having holders on their under sides with which said hangers may be engaged.
3. A package comprising a plurality of receptacles disposed one within another, the receptacles being formed of blanks and provided with closures and the enclosed receptacles with upwardly projecting hanger flaps, and supports with which said hanger flaps may be engaged removably engageable with the enclosing receptacles whereby the enclosed receptacles are supported with their walls in spaced relation therein.
4. A package comprising receptacles disposed one within the other, each receptacle being provided with closure flaps and the inner receptacle being provided with upwardly projecting hanger flaps, the outer receptacle being shouldered at its upper end within the closure, and a supporting member with which said hanger extensions may be engaged resting upon said shoulders.
5. A package comprising receptacles disposed one within the other, each receptacle being provided with closure flaps, the inner receptacle being provided with upwardly projecting hanger flaps, and a supporting member with which said hanger flaps may be engaged disposed within the enclosing receptacle.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
