VTILLIAM F. BRIGHT AND GEORGE SCHNEIDER, 0F EAST ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS.
TGOTHBRU'SH RACK.
Application filed March 26, 1923. Serial Nio. 627,703.
T0 all w hom it may concern:
Be it known that we, VVJLLIAM F. Birreria? and (in-once SCHNEIDER, citizens of the United States, residing at East St. Louis, in the county of St. Clair and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful linprovements in Toothbrush Racks; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates` to improvements in sanitary toot-h brush holders and has for its object to provide a simple and inexpensive, yet a highly desirable device in which a tooth brush may be easily forced and from which it may be withdrawn. with equal ease.
With the foregoing in View, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a. face view of a brush rack constructed in accordance with our invention.
Figure E2, is an edge elevation.
Figures 3 and 4 are detail vertical sectional views, the one showing a brush held in the device while the other illustrates the manner of inserting and remo-ving.
Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional view as indicated by line 5-5 of Fig. 2.
In the drawing above briefly described, the numeral 1 designates a suitable upright backing plate upon which is mounted a vertically elongated downwardly opening brush container 2, or a plurality of these containers if desired, the plate 1 being preferably provided with a. holder 3 for a tube of tooth paste above each container 2.
Each container 2 comprises aiiat back wall d, a pair of opposed fiat side walls 5, a convex front wall 6 and a rearwardly inclined upper end 7, the latter preferably having an opening 8 to permit the circulation of air so that the brush may more quickly dry. rl.`he lower ends of the walls 5 and 6 are preferably liared as indicated at 9 to facilitate upward insertion of the brush and for the purpose of retaining the brush in the container, a pair of supporting lugs l() are formed near the lower end of the back wall 4;, these lugs being preferably integral with both said back wall and the side walls 5. The two lugs are spaced apart sufficiently to receive the usual contracted neck 11 at the juncture of the head 12 of the tooth brush with its handle 13 and the front faces of said lugs are spaced rearwardly from they vbristles 14; will be sprung slightly as indicated in Fig. 4:, the result being that the inherent resiliency ofy these bristles will serve f to hold the brush in proper engagement with the lugs, when `said brush is once inserted.
The container 2 is preferably although not necessarily formed of glass and colored glass is in most instances desirable on account of the attractive contrast which may be obtained between the container and the back plate. For instance, if this back plate is painted white and a green or other colored glass is used in constructing the container 2, a very pleasing effect is obtained.
lVhile any desired means may be employed for securing each container upon the back plate 1, we prefer to form said container with vertically spaced grooves 15 and to position wires 16 in these grooves, these wires being passed through suitable open-- ings in the back plate 1 and twisted together behind the latter.
As excellent results may be obtained from the details disclosed, these details may be followed if desired, but it is to be understood that within the scope of the invention as claimed, numerous minor changes may be made, particularly with regard to the number of containers 2 and clips 3, and materials of which the several parte are formed.
We claim y A tooth brush` rack comprising a support, a one-piece container carried by said support and comprising a fiat back wall contacting with the support, a pair of flat side walls at right angles to and extending forwardly from said back wall, and a. convex front wall,`the upper end of said container being closed, while its lower end is open for the insertion of the head of a tooth brush,v the Ilower ends of said side and front walls being flared to facilitate entrance of the brush head, said container having near its lower end a pair of horizontally spaced lili llt)
lugs: in the rear corners of the container, inherent resiliency to engage the brush with said lugs having' front surfaces ,spaced renrthe lugs. Wardly from the front Wall of the contain In testimony whereof We have hereunto 10 er L distance slightly less than the length of affixed our signatures.
the bristles of .an ordinary tooth brush o v whereby these bii'st'les iniis't he spung when VILLIAM F. BRIGHT. inserting the brush head and Will exert their GEORGE SCHNEIDER.
