R. OLERI CYLINDRICAL RAVIOLI SHAPEB, SEALER, AND CUT'I'ER Filed May 15 1925 Patented Jan. 8, 1924,
, UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROSA OLERI, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
'Applieatiiin filed May 15, 1923. Serial No. 639,107.
To allwkom z'tmay concern:
'Be it known that I, Rosa ()LER'I, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and 6 useful Improvements in Cylindrical Ra-. violi Shapers, Sealers, and Cutters, of which the following is a s ecification.
This invention re ates to improvements in shapers and cutters used in preparing ra- 10 violis or other similarly made pastries, and is adapted to subdivide, seal, and cut out areas of the material of which the ravioli is made, all in one complete operation.
Heretofore, raviolis, consisting ordinarily of two thin layers of dough between which is placed a comparatively thick layer 'of chopped meat and vegetables, were formed by dividing the substance into individual shapes by means of a roller which was rolled by hand overthe same. After this was done, it was necessary to cut out by hand, each ravioli,- thereby causing the entire operation to become very tedious and to consume considerable time. It very frequently happens that in making raviolis they do not become properly sealed at their edges, in which event the material making up the inside thereof falls out upon their being handled. By means of the invention herein described, it will only be necessary in making raviolis to roll the cylindrical body over the substance comprising the raviolis. By so doing the individual raviolis will be formed, sealed and cut, at one and the same time.
j The invention has for its object to provide a means for forming, sealing and cutting raviolis or similarly made pastries, in one complete operation.
In=the drawings. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the ravioli shaper and cutter:
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 3; and
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal cross section taken on the line 3.-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a frame or core which is made preferably from wood, having at the ends thereof han dles 2, and at designated intervals along its body, a plurality of circumferential projections 3. The projections 3, extend circumferentially around 1, and are so formed that i a space semi-circular in shape is provided between each of them. Runnin longitudinally along the circumferential edges of proectlons 3, and secured thereto by means of glue or any other suitable adhesive, are a plurality of wooden strips 4 which are preferably equal distance from each other. Se-
cured to the central edges of projections 3 and to the extreme central portion of strips 4, are thin corrugated metal ribs or strips 5,
which circumferentially encircle each of the projections 3 and also extend longitudinally along the wooden'strips 4. The corrugated metal strips are secured to '3 and 4 by forcing them within the wood or by cementing them to the Wood, or by any other suit able means. The metal strips project outwardly from 3 and 4 but slightly and are provided with a sharp edge, which affords a means for cutting the paste. The wooden strips 4 and the circumferential projections 3 serve to form each ravioli and to seal each edge thereof, thereby causing the material comprising their centers to remain between the layers of dough. The corrugated metal strips 5 extending along the wooden strips 4 and around the projections 3, afi'ord'a means for cutting the individual raviolis asthey are being shaped and sealed.
The material comprising the ravioli is firstly laid flatly upon a table, after which the shaper and cutter is rolled over the same, thereby forming-sealing and cutting the individual raviolis in one operation.
Having described my invention what I claim is: r
1. A pastry shaper, sealer and cutter comprising a wooden core provided with a plurality of circumferential projections thereon, a plurality of Wooden strips attached to the edges of the projections and extending thereon parallel to the axis of the core,'and a plurality of metal corrugated strips extending around each of the projections of the core and along each wooden str p.
2. A ravioli shaper, sealer and cutter comprising a wooden core providedwith a plurality of wooden projections extending circumferentially around the same, a plurality of wooden strips extending lengthwise along the edges of the projections, and a series of strips.
3. A 5 cutt r 'comprlsmg a and the Wooden cylindrical revioli shaper, sealer and central wooden core with 'a plurality of circular projections forming a part, thereof, a
plurality of Wooden strips separated from each other and extending longitudinally along the circumferential edges of the projections, and a series of metal strips extending entirely around each proJection and along each Wooden strip, substantially as described.
