To all whom it may Concern:

Be it known that I, ANDY KOZMA, a cititen of Czechoslovakia, residing at Lovilia, in the county of Monroe and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt Buckles, of which the following is a Specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in belt buckles and has particular reference to a buckle formed of wire bent from asingle strand to provide a belt attaching end and a tongue frame or loop.

\Vith the above and other objects in view as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

Figure 1 is a top plan view of a belt buckle constructed in accordance with the present invention, a portion of a strap or belt shown associated therewith,

Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the belt buckle and belt shown in Fig. 1,

Figure 3 is a bottom plan View of the belt buckle showing one end of the belt attached thereto,

Figure 4: is a perspective view of the buckle with the belt removed showing the single strand formation thereof, and

The belt buckle is formed from a single strand of wire to provide a belt attaching end and a tongue guard or loop, the wire strand being initially bent to provide an eye 1 as shown in Fig. 1 and extending from said eye and further bent side and

2 and 3 respectively for the tongue guard.

The wire strand extending from the side bar 2 spaced from the eye 1 extends in a slightly downward direction to form a side bar 1 of the strap attaching end or clamp of the buckle, the wire being further bent at right angles to form a cross bar 5 and return bent as at 6 and directed through the eye 1.

The wire strand in passing through the eye 1 is directed transversely of the rear ends of the side bars 2 extending parallel with the cross bars 3 and 5 to provide a pivot bar 7 BUCKLE.

upon which a belt tongue 8 is pivotally mounted, the wire strand adjacent the side bar 2 spaced from the eye 1 beingbent to provide an eye 9 that encloses the rear end of the side bar 2, the wire strand further continuing rearwardly and slightly inclined to providea side bar 10 for the other section of the belt attaching means or clamp.- The wire strand at the end of the side bar 10 is bent at right angles as at 11 to overlie and be spaced upwardly of the cross bar 5 of the lower clamp member, a wire strand being further bent to provide a side bar 12 for the upper clamp member with the free end thereof formed with an eye 13 for attaching the same to the adjacent end of the pivot bar 7 in proximity of the eye 1.

10 and 12 0f the upper member of the clamp have the ends 16 of a wire secured thereto with the intermediate portion thereof spaced upwardly of the cross bar 11 and provided with a coverso ing of rubber or similar material and indicated by the reference numeral 17.

The belt associated with the buckle, and indicated by the reference numeral 18 has a slot 19 formed therein, the strap 18 being passed between the cross bars 5 and 11 of the clamping end of the buckle, over the guide bar it and pivot bar 7 with the tongue 8 positioned in the slotted opening 19. The end 18 of the belt in passing around the pivot bar 7 is positioned above the guide bar 1 1 and in engagement with the main section 18 of the belt with the free end thereof disposed above the lower cross bar 5 and in engagement with the belt 18 as clearly illustrated. The other free end of the belt in passing through the loop or guard frame for the tongue has the free end thereof disposed beneath the guide roll 17 as shown in Fig. 1.

From the above detail description of the device, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent, it being noted that the buckle is substantially formed of a single strand of wire bent to provide a guard loop or frame for the belt buckle tongue and the clamping members of the belt.

While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present in vention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new i 1. In a belt buckle of the type described, a buckle frame formed of a single strand of Wire bent to provide a tongue guard and strap clamping bars, a tongue pivoted on said frame, the buckles being reinforced by the formation of eyes through which portions of the Wire strand extend.

2. In a belt buckle of the type described, a buckle frame formed of a single strand of Wire bent to provide a tongue guard and strap clamping frames a pivot bar at the rear end of the tongue guard, a tongue pivoted on. said bar, the clamping frames'including crossed side bars and spaced crossbars.

3. In a belt buckle of the type described, a buckle frame formed of a single strand of Wire bent to provide a tongue guard and strap clamping frames, a pivot bar at the rear end of the tongue guard, a tongue pivoted on said bar, the clamping frames including crossed side bars and spaced cross-bars, and a strap engaging guide bar carried by the side bars of one of the clamping frames.

4:. In a belt buckle of the type described, a buckle frame formed of a single strand of Wire bent to provide a. tongue guard and strap clamping frames, a pivot bar at the rear end of the tongue guard, a tongue pivoted on said bar, the clamping frames including crossed side bars and spaced crossbars, a strap engaging guide bar carried by the side bars of one of the clamping frames, and a retaining bar for the free end of the belt strap carried by the cross bar of the upper clamping frame.
