Freon, a citizen of the United States,'residing at "Savannah, in the county of Ghatham and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Key Rings, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain improvements in key rings and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and im proved device of this general character whereby the keys may be readily and con veniently engaged or disengaged.

Another object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device'of this general character having means whereby the same may be engaged with a belt, the waist band of another garment or the like.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved key ring whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view in perspective illustrating a key ring constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;

Figure 2 is a front elevational view, with portions broken away of the device as herein disclosed;

Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the device'as herein set forth with a portion of the annular member indicated in a second position by broken lines;

Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 1-4 of Figure 2; and

Figure 5 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure 2.

As disclosed in the accompanying draw ings, my improved. key ring comprises an annular split member 1 preferably round in cross. section. Pivotally'engaged to the opposite sides away to receive the opposite end portion ofthe extension orfiatplate 2 and atfa' point adjacent the outer end thereof are the swinging plates 3 which when sriperim posed upon the extension or plate 2 are of .a length to bridge the meeting ends of the member 1 whereby the keys or the like engaged with said member 1 are held against displacement.

' The plates 3 are maintained in looking position through the medium of the sliding sleeve or collar 4. This collar 4:, when moved inwardly of the pivotal mounting for the plates 3, surrounds saidv plates 3 and the extension or plate 2 and thereby effectively hold the plates 3 in their locked position.

The outer end of the extension or plate 2 is provided with an outstanding eye mem. her 5 which is interlocked with the eye member 6 carried by an end portion of a hook member H. The book member H comprises the overlying arms 7 and 8 which are adapted to receive therebetween a belt, the wasit band of another garment or the like whereby the key ring can be readily and conveniently carriedby a person.

It is to be understood that the arm 8 possesses a certain degree of inherent resiliency to facilitate its application or removal and when the hook member H is engaged with a belt the returned finger 10 underlies the belt and thereby serves to prevent accidental displacement of the hook member H therefrom.

From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a key ring constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated,
