Be it known that I, FRANCIS C. Haul, residing at \Vashington, in the District oi Columbia, a citizenof the United States,

5 have invented certain new and useful limprovements in Hangers, of which the following is a specification.

My object, more particularly, is to pro vide an inexpensive compact, unobtrusive l0 device for attachment to a bed, a chair, or any other object and for standing on a table or other level surface to support numerous articles of personal use. My invention therefore, consists in the device substantially as hereinafter specified and claimed.

My device comprises a hook, 10, to catch over the top bar, of a bed, the arm of a chair etc, and a vertical shank or stem 11.

The stem is composed of duplicate wire members which are spread apart into a partial ring form, 12, adapted to receive and grip a graduate glass or other article, the ring being sufliciently open at the top to allow the article to be thrust into the ring and be low the ring, 12, the two wires each after extending straight and alongside of one another for a certain distance curves outwardly and downwardly and after being bent or doubled to form a foot, 13, is extended upward and outward in a curve and is bent into a horizontal plane to form a more or less ring-shaped holder, 14:, adapted in the one case to receive a circular object such as a glass and in the other case to receive a more or less oval object as for example a medicine bottle. A single piece of wire is utilized to form all of the structure as thus far described, each ring shaped member, 14:, being supported at its outer edge by the outwardly curved portion of the wire while at their edges that are nearest together and are near the stem, 11, they are engaged by a wire arm, 16, that is bent at midlength around the straight portions of the stem thus serving to confine such portions, and at each extremity being bent into an eye to engage one or the other of the Serial No. 588,940.

I also utilize the wire arm, 16, to hinge a wire member, 17, which may be swung to and from a vertical position to a rearwardly and inclined posi tion, forming in the latter position (see dotted lines) a leg adapted to support the hanger as an easel when resting on a table top. At its lower end said leg has several hooks, 18, which when the member hangs vertically as when the device is suspended from object serve to suspend a clock or other article, the plurality of books being provided so that they may be in different positions to enable the clock or other suspended article to be suspended in any one of several positions. Said member 17, is formed of wire that is bent into a V-shape, the contracted part of the V being at the bottom and the spread arms at the top 19 being formed into eyes to engage the cross arm, 16, and the wire between the eyes being bent inward and at such an angle at the terminal ends of the wire as to form a stop by engaging the back of the stem, 11, when said member is used as an easel leg to support the device.

If desired as shown in the drawing each half of the ring, 12, may have attached to it as by soldering a substantially semi-circular strip, 20, to form a wider bearing than does the round wire.

What I claim is:

1. An article of the class described having a stem which at the upper end has a suspending means and which at the lower end terminates in feet having between the sus pending means and the feet on opposite sides article eupportii'ig devices'and a memher having a pivotal connection with the stem and adapted to serve either as a suspending device or as a leg to support the article after the fashion of an easel.

2. An article of the class described comprising a stem of wire bent at its upper end to form a hanging hook and portions of the wire being bent downwardly and out wardly and then upwardly and outwardly and each terminating in a ring form support, and a cross arm of wire extending between such ring form supports and bent around an intermediate portion of the stem.

3.
