BOOT-POLISHING MACHINE.

Be it known that I, Gasrnno ZARRELLI,

subject of the King of Italy, residing at Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boot- Polishing Machines, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a power-driven boot polishingl device, wherein an electric motor is applied to rotate a. separate pulley under each boot support of the stand on any of which pulleys an endless polishing band of fabric may be placed, which being passed also over the toe and instep of a boot on the support will effect polishing in a rapid and satisfactory manner.

The invention is fully Ydescribed in the following specication and is illustrated in l0 the drawing herewith, in which:

Fig. 2, a plan, portions of the stand being removed to reveal the shaft-ing within.

2, 2, 2, represent the ordinary stepped shoe polishing stand, supporting a chair base 3 and having the usual foot-rests 1 opposite the position of each chair, and adjustable for height at 5.

At one end of the stand on the chair base f3 is secured a motor 6 of power suflicient to operate such number of boot polishers which the stand may require.

The motor 6 drives by means of belt 9 a shaft 7 which extends lengthwise of the stand beneath the front edge of the chair ba se 3 and has secured on it a long cylindrical pulley 8. Frein the pulley 8 of this shaft 7 power is communicated by half cross belts 19 to a series of shafts 10 rotatable in bearings 11. These shafts 10 are at right angles to the shaft 7 and are located one beneath each foot-rest 4.

@n the outwardly projecting end of each shaft 10 and immediately under the forward A5 part of each foot-rest, is secured a pulley 12 adapted to receive an endless band 14 of Flexible polishing fabric of a length sufficient to pass around the pulley 12 and around the toe and instep of a boot on the rest 1.

A power-driven boot polishing band 141 is thus provided for each foot-rest of the stand and the operator may pass a polishing band on the pulley 12 and over the boot of an occupant of the stand and then adjust the height of the foot-rest that it may apply the desired tension that the band will be driven by the pulley.

I do not desire to be confined to the construction of a shoe polishing stand as il 60 lustrated in the drawing, as the same may not have more than one step, nor do I desire to be confined to the position of the motor 6 on the chair base 8 as the same may be placed in anyr other desired position. rEhe important feature of the invention resides in the provision of a separate shaft and pulley under each footrest of the stand, which separate shafts are driven from a common shaft disposed at right angles to them.

Having now particularly described myV invention I hereby declare that what I claim as new and desire to be protected in by Letters Patent, is:

A boot polishing means, comprising, 'he combination with a suitable stand having foot-rests, of a shaft rotatably mounted in the stand immediately under each foot-rest, a pulley on the outwardly projecting end of the shaft, an endless polishing band adapted to pass around a boot on the foot-rest and around the pulley on the shaft beneath, and means for rotating each shaft.
