To all wham'zt may concern:
e it known that I, Arman Mine PAso'A RENE PInnALLU, a citizen of the French Re; public, of 11 Rue des Gerideaux, Sevres, Seine-et Oise, France, have invented a Fuel Burner, ofwhich the following is a full, clear, and exact description. i
This invention has f r its object a burner utilizing as fuel ma zout, coal oil or other liquid or liquefiable fuel, this'burneribeing so combined as to do away with the use of In order tha't'the invention maybe clearly understood 'it will be 'describedhereafter with reference 'to the accompanying drawing in which Fig.1 is a frontelevati o'n, I i I Fig. 2 'is a longitudinal vertical'section made according to line 22 ofFignl.
Fig. 3 is alplan view.
Fig. 4: 'isavertical cross' section made according to line 44 of Fig. 2. i Fig. 5 is a front view of a modlfication.
Fig. 6 is a longitudinal vertical section made according to line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
Fig. 7 is a plan view of the cup.
As illustrated in the drawing, the burner forming the subject-matter of this invention, is'composed of a cup 1 constituting the combustion chamber and between the edges of which is held a tube 2 adapted to pour in the cup 1 the fuel, mazout or the like, which is fed in the said tube 2 by a funnel 3.
This tube 2, which is freely open to the atmosphere at its front end is provided, at its opposite end, with a bottom 4: forming, with the tube 2, an opening 5 permitting the the cup .1. This cu'p 1, which has the shape shown inthe drawing, is provided on its front face with a flared opening constituting an atmospheric air intake, the conical wall 6 of which is connected with those of the cup by providing, below the fuel/i duced cross section, having rie fb 'theaction'of the flames of the 111a tube 2, an opening 7, vof re the shape of a putting in communication the in the cup 1 with the atmosphere and determining aniacceleration of the speed 0f 'theiair drawn in the's aid cup at the time of crescent,
the'ignition and during the combustion of v the irlazout or'other fuel through'the tube 2. i I V Above [the tube 2 is arranged a second air poured in the clip intake theconstruction of which is such as to bring above the ignited fuel reheated atmospheric air,
This an mate is constituted by a kind of branch :8 extending on the, greatest part of thelength of the cup 1 which it covers'in" such'a manner that w e combustion is exposed to ignited fuel for 'thushighly reheating the air circulating in thebranch 8; this branch is provided with an inlet "opening of larger cross'section than the distribution opening 10, for the purpose of accelerating the circulation of the air.
At the rear part of the cup 1 is arranged chamber and that the said wall i the lower wall of the, said branch forms the top of t anatmos'pheric 'air intake 11 which, as the previous ones, is so arranged as to bring the atmospheric air at an accelerated speed abovethe ignited fuel.
F nally, the improved burner may accessorilybefprovided with a U-shaped tube 12, r
as "illustrated in the drawing and the ends of which open in the 'atmospherefthe said tube is provided ,with perforations 12 for distributing also reheated air above the ignitedfuel. H v
The above described apparatus operates in the following manner; I
The fuel, mazout orthe like, "fed in the tube 2 flows in the cupl through the opening 5 provided atthe rear; of the said tube,
this fuel is then ignited in the thus constitutes the combustion chamber.
cup 1 which The airnecessary for the combustion is admitted from the exterior through the flared opening 6 the portion 7 of reduced cross section of this opening 6 causing the acceleration of the speed of the air, a certain quantity of air entering also into the combustion chamber through the tube 2. During the combustion, the gases and flames which lick the branch'8 heatlthe latter so that the atmospheric air circulating in this branch is brought to a high temperature and i 1 led at an accelerated speed above the ignited fuel through the distribution opening 11 of reduced cross section. v
Finally fresh additional air is admitted through the nozzle 11 and distributed by the latter above the ignited fuelsoas to-complete V the combustion.
In order to permit of facilitating the ignition and to conveniently effectthe cleaning of the burner, the cup carryingthe tube distributing the'mazout can be mounted in such a manner that it can be moved longitudinally by hand. i
This arrangement is illustrated in Figs. 4
"to 6, in which the said cup 1, provided as stated With the-tube 2, has on its sides lugs" 13 which are fitted in slidewavs l l integral With the fixed support provided with the nozzles 8 and 11, the nozzle 8 dlstributlng hot air and the other fresh additional air above the ignited fuel, as described With reference to Figs. 1 to i.
Finally this support can be provided With a conduit 15 arranged above the ignited fuel and perforated with one or more rows of air inlet orifices. The operation is the same as that above described, except that the cup 1 is moved backward by hand in the slide- Ways 14 by means of the handle 16, so as to release it from the support at the time of the ignition or after extinction for permitting its cleaning.
The above described arrangements are, of
for leading in the lower part, of the latter the atmospheric; air necessary for the lgnition of the fuel and for imparting, at thesame time, to this air an accelerated speed,- a nozzle-of decreasing -cross section, arranged above the said cup and adapted to "take the atmospheric air and to lead it in a reheated condition and at an accelerated speed above the ignited 'fuel,-a nozzle of decreasing cross section arranged at the rear part of the cup and adapted to take additional atmospheric air and to lead it above the ignited fuel for completing the combustion. V r
2'. A burner for liquid or liquefiable fuels, comprising a cup forming a combustion 'chamber,a tube carried by the said cup for leading in the latter the liquid fuel,a flared opening on the frontface of the cup for leading in the lower part of the latter the atmospheric airnecessary for the ignition of the fuel and for imparting, at the same time, to this air an accelerated speed,a nozzle of decreasing cross section, arranged above the said cup and adapted to take the atmospheric air and to lead it in a reheated condition and at an accelerated speed above the ignited fuel,a nozzle of decreasing cross sectiona'rranged at the rear part of the cup and adapted to take additional atmospheric air and to lead it above the ignited fuel for completing the combustion, and means for moving the cup and the tube iticarries for facilitating the ignition and the cleaning of the burner.
The foregoing specification of my burner utilizing mazout or other liquid or liquefiable fuel, Without'pressure, capable of being fitted on any industrial and domestic heating apparatuses, signed by me this 19th day of January, 1922. I v.
